Thread regarding Broadcom Corp. layoffs

Drama between employees from VMW and Broadcom should stip

This drama should stop.
I am not sure what the reason is.

Some posts complain about how incompetent the other side is. Accept it, you have no idea how good or bad the other side is and no control to change that even if the other side is incompetent.

Some posts reek with jealousy on the packages VMW folks got. Life is not fair.

Some posts complain about how VMware acquisition is a bad decision for the company and the stock price. Just get off your high horse. You don’t know any better than Hock. You are just a cog in the machine that Hock runs. Vote with your feet if you want to send a message to Hock /s.

This drama is sickening. Most likely is from a vocal minority, but in this public forum it might get amplified even by those who are employed at Broadcom anymore.

@8guz+1t9f4LgJ Who in your opinion would win if Hock Tan and Raghu fought each other in a cage match?

VMW had gotten a little too crazy

I miss being told I’m privileged and responsible for all the bad things in society.

The drama should not stop and lead to at least some good cage matches.

Ex-VMW employee here. Frankly I welcomed the BC takeover. VMW had gotten a little too crazy. Spending $$ wildly, various divisions that brought in no revenue but were allowed to continue etc. A little discipline is OK.
VMW is/was a very innovative place though, and I hope the innovation continues.
I feel awful about the folks getting laid off, but certain they will find other gigs that will pay even better. You'll be OK!

the animosity goes all the way up to the top - Even Hock can't look at VMW employees as "broadcom"

What is wrong with Google Chat? It works just fine. It’s a chat room after all.

I mean, you will have to excuse our disappointment. There's been no tangible plan from BC other than to use VMware as a value gain.

All we hear from Hock in the coffee talks is confrontation, threats and how life is awful. Great CEO, the best.

To compound this even further, everything BC runs is on Google Sites. Their email is backed by Gmail, serious business conversations happen in Google Chat.

Google Chat, for gods sake.

Most of the BC websites look like they're made in the 90's and then just left alone. No uniformity, no pride in how the systems look and feel.

BC is like an old relative who you know is wealthy but chooses to live a life of cheapness and squalor.

Whichever way you look at it, VMW got the cr-ppy end of the stick.

Dell paid 67 Billion for EMC that owned 80% of VMware. Dell sold VMware for 70 Billion. But because of the AI bubble and the delay in closing the final cost was 90 Billion. Dell increased R&D spend and revenues. Broadcom reduced R&D spend and reduced quarter revenues from 2.3 Billion to 1.6 Billion in the most recent quarter. May be Broadcom people are geniuses, but I am not seeing the genius as of now.

Def some incompetence on vmw side but some on bcom side too… this was made very clear during pre close planning calls when bcom people couldn’t understand very simple concepts. But in either case. Who cares. It’s done. Some people got paid well. Some folks don’t get bonuses this year. Some people lost jobs. Move the heck on.

Broadcom folks feel VMware folks are incompetent. Lot of truth to it.

I don't really see any drama, just folks from Broadcom not happy that VMware folks got even better packages which is OK. I am also not happy, but moved on. In the end whether you will stay on payroll long enough is more important to what is promised right?

Hence when blind is inevitably hacked, there will be no fall out.

Is it so surprising that people don’t want to work for a soulless PE firm?
