The notice was given to SGMs earlier this week that there will be no Christmas shops set up this year. The reason given was the lack of sale associated with the division 71 shop. All resources will be focused on getting product in other lines in such as division 06 and our HA business.

I worked sears 24 laid off when statred. Xmas was waste time. Nevery good enough for them. No serance pay for us to. So far they such
It used to look good (even under Eddie’s reign maybe 10 years ago) lots of lights, nice trees. Started to go south maybe 5 years ago and that was that. Since then it’s been mostly an afterthought.
The Christmas Shop was always a drain on payroll. As an example, just think how much time was spent fluffing and decorating trees.
And in sporting goods, you're competing with D–k's. In home appliances, with Best Buy and Lowe's. Good luck, Sears.
Sears also let Home Depot, Lowe's and Menards steal their Christmas decoration sales. Other stores just do everything better than Sears. Soon it won't matter anyway when they close the reaming few stores.
Yes
It used to be a big deal years ago. In our store, the fixturing would be set up and ready and then they would do an overnight with a group of associates to break down the pallets and fill the shelves and hooks.
Set up was usually in early October and the product did not start selling until Black Friday and afterwards when the discounting began.
Looking at Christmas merchandise arriving on trucks in late August or early September and selling the last of it in mid to late January....5 months a year of having Christmas trim shop merchandise in the stores.
I stopped putting decorations up at home years ago because I was tired of seeing it for almost half a year at work every year.
About 5 years ago my stores margin for Christmas shop was -24k because of all the merchandise sold below cost after the season.
Sears Christmas Shop was pathetic anyway. Back in the day it was the go-to place for Christmas trees (both live and artificial) , lights and all kinds of Christmas decorations. They actually had salespeople who would help you in the department. Contrary to another poster's comments, seasonal decor is very high margin. But over the years they kept shrinking the assortment until it wasn't of interest to anyone. It's just an example of Sears eliminating departments to the point they don't have anything anyone wants and don't give people any reason to shop what's left of their stores. I loved Sears and Kmart, in the past. After EL started running the show (into the ground) it was obvious he had ZERO interest or pride in Sears or Kmart as retail stores.

What are Division 06 and HA ?
The Christmas Shop was generally not a high profit line for Sears.
It seemed that much of the product stayed on the shelves until it was marked down to 75% off or more.
I remember one year when the company overbought on the animated deer and there were piles of them left over after Christmas until the shop was marked down to 75% and then 90% off.
I mean the commission for Christmas merchandise was horrible. Oh well it is what is.
Nobody knows what your talking about with all those abbreviated words.
Why 06?
