Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

Future of Atleos

With all the selling and layoffs of voyix side, what if anything is the future for Atleos? Already we have de-installs for pnc. Just curious to see what other people's thoughts are on Atleos side

I know some in Austin and Houston were let go on atleos. From what I heard the arks are now getting pms to get work and it’s keeping the machine running longer! Hmm imagine that spending time on a unit increases its reliability. But seeing service calls are down they don’t need as many. But they are losing customers too.

Also wondering about the mami/texas layoffs. Were they CE? My TM said the same after this last RIF. No more layoffs were expected

When did the layoffs in Miami/Houston take place? Curious to know if it was this week.
Our TM told us no more layoffs expected a couple weeks ago!

It’s not good anywhere! Voyix Texas team averaging a 2 weeks notice a day! The mgmt team are mo--ns with no concern! crazy they don’t even offer or ask you to stay makes you wonder the big plan? I figure run it thin then it’s sold off! Atleos is laying off in Texas as well. I figure a year from now NCR is non existent other than hw name.

Get your head out of sand, son.

The dominance of ATMs is over. The ATM is currently on a slow decline to obsolescence.

Cash use is declining. The amount of ATMs deployed in total, by everyone, is declining. The only reason NCR has more ATMs to service as of late is due to acquisitions.

How much cash do you even carry in your wallet, and use, regularly?

Anecdotally, I don't carry more than $20 or $50 in my wallet. Those same bills can stay in there, unused, for months on end. Cards or pure electronic payments for me. If you aren't earning any of the various kinds of points, cashback, or some other rewards on the vast majority of your transactions, then you are doing it wrong. You don't get any of that with cash. Maybe a discount if you pick up your local chinese food order instead of having it delivered and pay via cash, but that's about it.

When's the last time you had to go to a bank, other than to use the ATM, for something that wasn't work related? I can count my visits on two hands, and that's over decades. Banks are a relic of another time. You go in there, and most of the people taking up a teller's time are old folks that refuse to use online banking because they're scared or impotent.

In the past 30 years, just in my area, there are numerous bank branches that are just gone now. The vast majority of the time, they left no ATMs in their place. Even the branches that remain, when they do an ATM refresh, they might not have as many ATMs as before. A site that had 3 now only has 2. One that had 5 now has 3. Over a whole customer base, that adds up.

And then you have T&T. Other than in some major centers, T&T doesn't bring in a lot of work. A single tech could cover the vast majority of it and still have plenty of spare bandwidth to do something else. Seems like something ripe to outsource if that remains the case.

Some that may have clamored to join the Atleos side of the split probably didn't really have a grasp on the long term outlook.

Atleos needs a new angle and, as it stands, I wouldn't count on that brain trust to produce it. Their MO will be to drag out the slow decline a little longer.

There's been 3 rounds of CE layoffs on Atleos side. Not looking good for the remaining CE

The future of Atleos will decline as online banking continues to rise and bank branches close. People argue that cash will never go away, but the demand for cash is definitely declining. This leads me to believe Atleos is not in the best place and needs something new that is initiative and lucrative. Let’s face it, that’s not what NCR has done in decades. For now Atleos can limp along, but nothing but decline is in the future unless something new is in the future, so far that doesn’t seem to be the case
