Talking with several people in my org who have received offer letters, every one of them (including myself) have been assigned a new manager. In all the cases I am aware of, that new manager is an existing VMware employee; however, we cannot figure out the logic used to determine which manager you get assigned to. There does not seem to be a detectable pattern in terms of current org, business unit, or location. It seems almost random.

All Manager assignments are temporary.
You'll be assigned a BC Software manager if and when the acquisition closes as planned.
My manager did not change
Manager here. If you find yourself rolling up to a completely different manager/group, it's likely because your manager's director/VP needed to/wanted to find you a home. And it's likely that the team you're currently on won't exist and/or will be built out differently when everything moves to BC.
They are assigning to managers to spread out people, but also because the managers themselves might be also on the out, or they will have other managers fill in beneath them. It's not that important, as long as you got an offer, you are still in the game. :)
I agree with @xes+1pfWUHIn . Especially considering how uncooperative some legacy VMW managers have been providing good data.
Your go forward GM will be hosting a town hall following the corporate communications barrage on Monday. Unless you're in the bubble, which means you wouldn't be here, it is impossible to know the go forward strategy.
I too came over in the Symantec acquisition and was just as confused as you when I tried to figure it out using the old org charts.
You all need to be patient. Initially, some will be assigned to an existing or BC manager but eventually they will re-org after few months. It is a huge task right now to move thousands from company A to company B. I know bcuz BC acquired my former company.
You should message those managers and ask. If it's on your letter, expectation is to reach out to them.
Are all these random assignment folks team-less starting Monday?
Maybe they consider the management to be so awful, that they mix it up randomly on purpose to break up the head in the a-s structure…
