@xc nearly 600 in 2020, otherwise you are correct.
Yep...if it is a trickle reduction, most won't even realize it. Has there ever been a mass reduction? I left in 2019 and the largest group I ever got wind of was sub-10 from one group.
@gs True, but it does highlight the certain uncertainty of the company, multplied by the wishy washy decisions and direction of the company.
Drip drip went the oil, how long before it's expats chop chop?
Couldn’t have said it better @sameolestory
You folks say this every 6 months.
Layoffs are always occurring, in small numbers. If you or your colleagues don't know the people involved you probably won't hear about it. It's a different situation to the mass layoffs of a few years ago. USA payroll was targeted especially large families costing the company too much.
I'm pleased I left when I did, but it was on my own terms.
I call BS on this...every 6 months or so a post like this appear, the last two did not come true...prove it.
Every Expat job at Aramco comes with an expiration date. The fact that HR doesn't tell you that before you come doesn't make it less true. If you took the job expecting to make it to retirement, I'm sorry, but you are a fool. If you think the quantity/quality of the work you do will save you, then you are a double fool. The last big round that management did back in 2020 doomed entire areas of the company, and I'm sure the next one will be just the same if not worse. Sadly, management is clueless when it comes to knowing who does what, and good people get the boot right along with the bad. Some companies learn the easy way. Some companies learn the hard way. On the other hand, Aramco never, ever learns.
Time to sell up your large items, cars, boats etc. Be ready and prepared for a quick exit.
@OP Interesting. That's why I always recommend against getting too rooted/ entrenched in the KSA expat lifestyle. I realize that it alleviates some boredom but all that has to be unwound before exiting.
