Funny to see how RTO is applied to 32+ …

I checked my profile in secure. I am listed as a telecommuter with no business address listed. I hope that means I can continue working from home… for now. There is a UHG office 30 minutes from me but it is currently up for sale/lease per the sign posted in front of the building.

If you contact the facilities department for your local office, most of them are being shut down and no longer in use due to both financial and security reasons.

To find your work address, go to
secure
Profile
Employee Detail
HR History lists the date of change

I think the change was due to the new HR system. In new HR system, I am still listed as telecommuter, but now have a work address.

@xa To anyone laughing about distance, sharpen that resume or call the movers.

This is a multi-pronged soft layoff. MN/DC hybrid RTO is step one, followed by everyone within ~30mi of an office after Labor Day.

If enough people haven't quit (and the stock price is flat which is a given under current dinosaur leadership) and/or we function efficiently, get ready for a slow bleed as flyover employees are "strongly encouraged" into lateral moves in-person at a physical office.

The only hope for remote work is DOJ split off of ORX and ideally the rest of us in OI/OA/OF/OLS are folded into an external consulting firm. Poor souls in a Provider function are likely merged into UHC as a PayVider.

Inside information from a contracted business, UHG looking for ways to get people to resign without having to pay severance. UHG has millions of complaints and it does not look good for the company that their customer intake dept have that many complaints about the service provided. Apparently more outsourcing will occur as other countries do better with customer service calls than UHG as a whole.

I'm eager to check in tomorrow, as it seems like there may be some changes coming up for September or whenever they decide to implement them. It would be great if they could provide us with a notice ahead of time, especially for those of us who babysit grandkids or have kids to consider. I'm not suggesting that we watch our grandkids during our shifts, but the reality is that we finish work around a certain time, and having them just 10 minutes away is much easier than the added 45 minutes to an hour it would take to reach the nearest major city. I really hope they provide us with some clarity soon. After working with this company for over 15 years, it's definitely challenging not knowing what to expect. I'm curious if anyone else is feeling the same anticipation.

@w9 I saw this on my profile as well but I assumed it had to do with me transferring to a new role last week and the new MyHR rollout.

@x5 yes- same here. I now have a "business city" listed on my Sparq profile, which I do not believe I have ever seen before. I was hired in early 2024 as a telecommuter, and have never even been in an office- I don't even have an employee ID card/badge.
Can someone confirm what is going on with this "business city" change? Are remote employees going to be forced into an office they've never even been to before? Any transparency from management would be nice!

Has anyone else’s profile changed?? I was hired as a telecommuter years ago and now on my profile it has “Business City” and the city listed is no joke 180 miles from me! WTF!?!?

Maybe it doesn’t mean anything and I’m overreacting but some transparency would be nice!!

Been telecommuting since day one, 10+ yrs. Hired as telecommuter.

In Secure hr history at end of June, changed office address from n/a to local office. Maybe it is nothing. New HR system still lists me as telecommuter.

Which jobs or departments are moving to hybrid or RTO? I work in utilization management and haven’t heard anything about returning to the office.

It’s a little weird especially since Optum has had wfh as a perk for nearly 15 years. What’s changed? Poor leadership.

Not a single person I work with is in my state so why would I go into the office. He-l 10 of 12 are in India so…

@cf I wouldn't be that confident. Look at Amazon for instance.

Oh no I have to drive to work. The healthcare workers for this company are going into strangers homes and being shamed and pressured by the remote workers for not wanting to enter unsafe situations for things like g-ns, dr-gs, animals, locked entries with sketchy surroundings, trespassing signs, unsafe neighborhoods that aren’t ’flagged’ by Optum as being unsafe despite public knowledge, and ‘patients’/customers being hostile on the phone before arrival then expecting the healthcare provider to still arrive to a vulnerable situation while putting tons of miles on their personal vehicles. Get a grip.

@be I think most are safe. Especially those with no offices close. UHC charges Optum for space so no Optum office close means no RTO.

"Moving from a Telecommute to Hybrid or Core On-Site Work Model"

So I guess if we were hired as a telecommuter then we aren't safe from moving to hybrid or on-site.
