Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Discretionary 1% 401k match

Shame on all you haters hating Truist. Additional 1% 401k match to be paid 2/28, bringing total match to 5% for 2024. Truist is getting better and better for teammates!

@x3+1jmmhnpfg - I'm not getting my hopes up. Processes and policies are there so that there can be exceptions to them...which will be my case.

Couldn't deal with it, so I bounced shortly after the new year. I worked the whole year, so I would hope they hook me up. I know it's not going to happen along with the bonus I worked all year for and won't get.

I know..."You should have waited until after the bonus to leave." Well, the job market doesn't work like that. The job I took wasn't waiting around for me. It was take it or stick it out indefinitely...

@b5+1jmmhnpfg Maybe people don’t know, but not every division has the pension.

I wonder if that is going to be the excuse for no raise at all like they pulled a couple of years ago? They jacked up the teller salary and others threw a fit so they gave us a small bonus. When it came time the next year for the meager merit increases, we didn’t get one because they gave us one 6 months prior.

I’m use others have written this but this is pathetic. They used to match 6% and knocked it back to 4% so they are only giving back 1% of what we had before.

All those millions wasted on a golf tournament. Truist gives to certain charities, but doesn’t give to a big one in Atlanta not far from the big downtown building. I recently saw the list of donors which included Delta and Coca-Cola. I asked why Truist wasn’t on the list. Person rolled her eyes. I asked if they won’t do it. Was told no. They wouldn’t even talk about it.

Guess you have to be a thing where Bill and Joe can bring their friends on the private plane to look like the big dogs.

Last smokescreen before the next round of layoffs this fall to make profitability in 2026 through creative accounting. EL jumping ship and the stock buy-backs were the give away.

CEO "Let's reduce the 401k to 5% so we can buy a jet."
EL #1 "no, that will pi-s of the underpaid teammates."
EL #2 " I have ab idea, let's reduce it to 4% and dangle a 1% discretionary match to make them work harder."
CEO "Good idea. Make it so number 1. El # 2, you get a fat bonus and can use the jet."

The post with the grammatical errors was saying how stupid that everyone was, that’s why they got stomped upon. If you just have grammatical errors that’s okay everyone is beating this out on their phones. You probably shouldn’t have errors and say people are stupid in the same post

I think OP may have intended some sarcasm? I’m deflecting from the argument. Or maybe I’m projecting. Perhaps sum of the professors on hear can clew me in. I’m all for the proper grammatical differences and usage of homonyms, but ge-z guys. Lighten up.

Let’s go back to English 101: your and you’re mean two (pay attention later for your mind to be blown about this word) different things. Now if you were paying attention, to and too are not the same, and wait for this, there is also two… crazy right?

So now with that out of the way let’s talk about your (notice I didn’t say you’re) comment, since you have proven you’re (mind blown) highly intelligent I will not get too far in the details. The pension is a defined benefit, one that is arguably the best for the employer and most detrimental to the employer. A 401(k) plan is a defined contribution. The argument was not whether one was better than the other, the argument was the unfairness of having lower compensation (salary) compared to the industry, but rationalizing that with having a pension AND a 6% 401(k) match. When the 6% was reduced to 4% did we also get an increase in salary to then bring us back on par with the industry? We did not. So now we are supposed to say “thank you kind sir, may I have another” for this measly 1% discretionary when the 6% was guaranteed. This is the issue. Thanks for playing.

Your right they should have kept 6% match and eliminated the pension - no point in doing the 1% extra just upsets to many negative people - many are not smart enough to understand the pension benefit is better than 401k match

As was said on the Source, “This extra 1% isn’t a guarantee each year. Keep up the hard work and reach for more”….now that is motivation with purpose!!…..Good grief

So we should all say “thank you for taking away 2% and making a huge fuss about giving 1% of that back”? This place is still a joke.
