If the deal falls through we are left working for a management team that wanted to sell us out and take a big payout for themselves all while gaslighting us. They have no game plan. They will just wait for the next takeover. VMware is on the down escalator.

The only semi-concrete bit of Goodness here is that its going to add more time to the countdown clock. So maybe a year or so. The rest is speculation. But speculation is fun. Does this really change anything? Not really. Its just that the length of time that we will exist in a state of the unknown and limbo has gotten extended. It hasn't changed my plans as I will continue to seek employment elsewhere as I'd rather not be around when and if this deal closes.

If the deal falls apart, this will happen:

Stock will plummet to $20 per share.

Private Equity will come in and buy VMW at $40 per share and run the same play Broadcom plans on running.

We are out of options. And all the options are bad.

  • _- we are just gonna make stuff up now? How would you know they gave DELL a hard time, you just know everything? Even then, there was no official investigations so if this report is accurate and an investigation were to be conducted, it’s certainly not standard practice as you seem to imply. I am not saying the deak is doomed but dont make stuff

You just posted the same article that has been posted before and you didn't read the comments. Every acquisition in EU above a certain amount gets investigated. Most of them get approved. I am sure that the EU officials gave Dell executives a hard time for a few months before letting the merger go through. It is by no means certain that Broadcom will be blocked from this acquisition. It will likely go through after the EU functionaries do their thing for show. Stop with the day dreaming.

Wishful thinking this time. Not a chance this holds up the deal in a meaningful way.

Even a brief look at the market shows a dozen competing companies with comparable offerings. Price increases during record inflation - they will easily be able to point to similar price moves in the market.
