putting people in idle, selling office, ..., layoff will come soon.
bc just want to buy some time to review all things after it controls vmware completely
it explains why it gives placeholder offers so generously, for a cheap company
it even explains that why it cut base weirdly and aggressively, never heard other companies did things like this

they can just hire Indian TSEs at 20% of the cost and train them on 8.0.
Now you are learning!
BC still needs many TSEs to support legacy software.
I'm a TSE and I still support 6.5 customers. And will be all this year, looking at the many extended contracts.
So I figure I have at least till then. At some point they will force everyone into an upgrade, old people with old knowledge won't be needed anymore, and they can just hire Indian TSEs at 20% of the cost and train them on 8.0.
"There, I fired everyone. That ought to increase profits."
ok, agreed. I get it now
If they will hire new guys from the street, they will need to train them, which means losing money, time and this goes against cost cutting
Wrong. At any given moment ask yourself - what leads to more money not what is good for the customer or current employees.
Replacing everyone with lower cost substitutes will save money. That is what will be done. The fact they can’t operate as effectively is not a concern. Customers will be pi---d. Who cares? Not Hock. He saved money!

I am guessing TSEs will stay. IMO, from business perspectives to let go Senior NSX-T TSE is stupid! If they will hire new guys from the street, they will need to train them, which means losing money, time and this goes against cost cutting, money savings policies Hock is trying to implement.

Thanks to Almighty if you are idle and getting paid too.
collect paycheck, saving money, be prepared for interview.
20% will stay. Good luck.
40,000 -~> 10,000 - with the majority of remaining jobs being in “best cost” locations.
You ain’t seen nothing yet.
Why Broadcom need so many people if it just wants to maintain a legacy software and does not develop new features?
It will pick a very small amount of people and lays off most. The offers were given so it will have time to do this. Evil and cheap.
Just collect paychecks when it is still available, and be prepared.
