Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Seems like persistence paid off.

There are tons of people who want to see you fail. It makes them feel good about inactivity on their part and when you succeed, jealously sets in. Most posters here will apply their situation as a blanket across the regions and make the bold insistent claims that its impossible to find a job outside, well, not so much. Among all the noise here and all the hecklers, one buddy of mine is leaving at 30% more and another at 50% more. Yes, that’s right a whole 50% more.

Their secret, head down, research, search, apply, move on to another job board and don’t give up. 6+ months later, they are moving on. Don’t listen to the clowns on this board who’ll try to verbally beat you down and manipulate you into not even trying.

And right on target the naysayers chime in on beating down any good news so that they feel good about their own situation. Either way……

As of late, there’s even three more colleagues that I never knew were looking, have turned in their notice. I just saw their linked in posts of a job transition. Good for them. If you don’t like your world, change your world.

@OP

Agree with your post.

But as you said, it took your friends 6+ months to finally land or find their new jobs making 30%+ more than their Citi salary.

Will it take a long time especially in this Recession? Yes.

But also be aware that most people will Not tell you about instances or examples of when they had to take a pay cut.

Most of the time you'll only hear about the successes, Not the failures.

Think about it. How many people will actually tell their friends or relatives they had to take/accept a 10%, 20%, 30%, whatever pay cut after months of searching for a new job after getting laidoff??

Everyone's financial and expenses situation is different which determines how desperate a person is.

These are some of the reasons to Never discuss your family or personal life with your employers and coworkers, because they're Not your friends or advocates.

Your employers and coworkers WILL exploit you because of your family situation and/or figure out how desperate you are, willing to take reduced salaries/bonuses, or take increased workloads.

You are aware that it has become increasingly difficult to achieve stuff in the past 30y right? So good luck with spending your nights preparing for interviews to switch jobs to just keep up with inflation :D

@OP Fair assessment. Adding that having Citi on your resume is a nice eye catcher, worldwide. Those who 'know' will know what we put up with. This is a case study for the future clowns who's careers will spread this this sheep DNA across the industry. Baaaah.
