"Hess finally got it"

Inexplicably, a British sleep-equipment company has hired Hess as COO. Are they even aware of his record of incompetence and failure?

This b—s— happened last year.
Every review great. worked super hard to meet pointless deadlines. Gotlaid off. along with excellent peers. Because of 'project cancellation'

Yet : Roselli and Hess weren't touched. SO many lousy managers who made stupid decisions still remained.

At least Rosellli and Hess finally got it - though there are many left behind still incompetent. In the end, it's a game of favorites.

I feel really sad and disappointed.

After giving everything to the company I think I deserved better.

I wish no one has to go the this time at any point in his life.

I thought the same thing- sounded like I was in an intervention!

Did any members of the grossly incompetent upper management get the layoffs they deserve? (Other than Phil last winter, although he probably got a platinum parachute)

"Exceeds" rating every year, tons of recognition points from peers/teams, VP and Directors awards over the years - over and out

Pointing out you need to spend all those recognition points before your last day, while they are going over your walking papers in a monotone voice like they have done it a hundred times before - not cool

Quality tik-tok content! But yes this was me as well. I guess hard work and high performance doesn't mean anything to Bose anymore.

Don’t forget those Store closures, bose paid money to negotiate get out of leases/early or tied leases together to get stores closed faster. Fun fact it was my understanding most stores made a profit

In 2019 Layoffs were in Feb and Oct.
in 2020 April and Oct.
What about 2021

Before they say another "Today is a sad day for CED (or other division)"

How much time have you got?

"Recent products have either been launched with a less-than-expected feature set, or been delayed and missed crucial sales dates."

Or products are launched with the expected feature set that might have appealed to buyers five years earlier, but the features are old-hat by time the product is for sale. Trying to play catch-up with other, better managed, more efficient companies is definitely not working. But such failures continue to be produced, and they will continue to fail.

About 10% of my department laid off today, including me. We weren't super busy at the moment, but I expected we would be with upcoming products, but I guess either they will figure out how to do more with fewer people, or just do fewer things.

Those here and in other threads are pretty correct about constantly being behind the curve. Recent products have either been launched with a less-than-expected feature set, or been delayed and missed crucial sales dates. Maybe one day there will be another game changing product, but not if they keep letting talent go.

"Today is a sad day for CED (or other division)", Today ?

The rot is deep / old up in the management.
Bose is forced to compete in triathlon with top heavy management who have not idea how the game has changed.

They understand one thing, layoffs -> financial viability for management till next gig.

To those laid off, sorry, and best of luck..

For the others, I guess I'll see you all here in a few months.

The first people that should have been laid off are the managers. There are too many managers and too many layers. Why do you need one manager to supervise one or two people? Over the years, I saw some people climbing up to be a manager, no leadership, harassing other co-workers, treating others unfairly. That becomes a bad part of Bose culture. It becomes more and more toxic.

"Today is a sad day for CED (or other division)" has been repeated so many times. The company needs to get to the bottom of the problem. I think some Bose HR people are reading posts on this website. They need to hear what employees are saying or thinking.

For those who are not laid off this week. You job may be OK, for another 6 months. After the holidays sales numbers become clear earlier next year, the company will do the math again and lay off more people if the situation is not improved. Remember, Bose announced closing retails store in the first week of 2020, before the pandemic started. Six months is enough to look for other opportunities.

Management is laying off some very capable people. They delivered products on time, without any quality issues, despite management's lack of support. I suppose the company cannot afford to pay capable people the salary they deserve anymore.

The customary "we had to do this, and we are sad" video at the end of layoffs, will not do justice to their hard work. Though their hand is forced, I'm confident that they'll fare much better elsewhere.

@fvj+17wvr3Tl , that's what I got last June. But outside Bose, there are jobs waiting for you. To me, it took 3 months to land next job, but recently I felt job market became a little better than summer. It seems that companies start unfreezing hiring. I finally got an offer much better than at Bose. Now I feed I am glad to be laid off from Bose. Good luck.

Why are the CED divisions getting affected, realistically what products will the business have in the pipeline for 2021? I heard of Gwen/Hadrian which was supposed to release already but somehow fell behind (sarcasm) Hearing Aids (which retail would of led for sales as it's not a great online product)

"Essence and Values" is brain-washing material by HR. Some people believe it?
I am not surprised some people do.
Some people in this country still believe COVID-19 is a hoax, masks are useless.
Their brains are already washed by the xxxx
