Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Kleber Santos (Consumer Lending CEO) has asked managers to look for “efficiencies” when it comes to headcount.

Source, I’m a 1st level manager and I’ve been giving the directive to “hold” on a few open reqs. Anyone else hearing anything?

They definitely need to hire more managers. Increase the hierarchy. Tech workers should have a minimum of 3 managers (2 direct, 1 product related, 1-2 agile empowerment, 1-2 offshore managers). We need to have extensive product design review.
With all this management we are assured that this bank will keep up in technology.

How about eliminating any resources dedicated to DE&I?

It's funny how different parts of the business have been impacted. I'm in Kleber's world and orgs have already lost 25-40% of their staff. I wish it was just a hiring freeze and no backfills. Can't count how many good people doing important work have been displaced over the past 24 months.

We aren't replacing US people, but hiring India

The ironic thing is, if we weren't forced to spend a huge number of hours justifying our existence and "talking about work" rather than doing work, we could probably very easily reduce headcount in some areas with zero impact on our operations. Unfortunately these hack execs can't help but make up endless non-productive tasks for us to complete so here we are, checking boxes to infinity.

What kind of name is Kleber anyway? I think about the elves cookies, whatever those are called.

WF is now actively hiring managers specifically with little knowledge so it becomes impossible for them to justify their headcount.

Is Kleber even qualified for his position? Check out his biography in the operating committee. Brazilian Army?! WTF?

Directors across Technology are having to justify their headcount every few months. Frontline employees don’t realize that their specific position is being evaluated for elimination by different management levels almost constantly now.

My direct manager works his tail off… but the increased box checking over sight does place more tedious BS tasks on him and up the chain. Drop the BS and we can probably dump 10% quite easily. Add the do nothing Agile / Scrum horse$hit and you got another 10%. Now give me a decent phukin bonus, I just saved this dump millions of $

When are they going to start getting rid of the managers? The number of levels here is amazing.

All LOBs are talking about a hiring freeze
That even includes replacements

Been that way for 2 years in WIM & brokerage. When someone leaves don’t replace.

We are supposed to have 2 reqs getting filled in India since about but nothing is happening. It appears that even India is "overstaffed" now.
