IPS said there would be more cuts today and was right. They also said the Thursday before the next pay period.
I lost my job, but have over fifteen years of experience in editorial, learning design, content creation, etc. so I should be able to find something soon.
Luckily we're in a good economy for college-educated workers. I'm just glad Trump isn't in office or I would be starving.
Several layoffs in my department. There is a push to expand outsourcing even more to cut costs. Might not end here.
Farmington Hills based Gale employees were cut.

I think it was all over. I'm not sure where some roles were based. They said today there could be more cuts.
Are the Gale cuts for the small number of remaining California workers? Or the FH Michigan site?
CA and Secondary sales cut at least 20 so far.
To be fair @wbk+1pgQMWCL, this is large publishing in a nutshell. Whether it's MH or a ham sandwich at CEO, it's all going downhill. Once PE took over, it has been all about bleeding it dry and saddling it with debt for the eventual execution.
How many rounds of layoffs has MH overseen over the years? How many catastrophic quarters and fiscal years? Why is he always the last man standing? Aren't these constant layoffs a reflection of his failed leadership??
If we look at things historically the true bloodbath will happen on Thursday and the next Thursday before paycheck.
Managers typically get let go in the first round, then employees then a week or two after dust settles another round.
Does anyone remember "Project Shovel?"

Greetings,
I congratulate everyone who received an exciting business update from your manager and HR business partner.
As I stated previously, it is more than likely Cengage has continued to win by losing 100M of cash per quarter, and doing so would put the company at about a zero balance at quarter close.
Rest assured, the leadership team is working to make the company more agile and nimble as we maneuver through this challenge. Collectively, we are disrupters changing a stagnant industry.
Know that your service has been valued, but at Cengage, performing well is not enough. We seek out the best and brightest who are unafraid to ask questions, disrupt the norm, and embrace change.
As we continue to win with Cengage Unlimited, know that our business must stay dynamic in this ever-changing time.
I wish you all luck as you embark on your new jouney as you become your own CEO.
Godspeed and Full Stop!
The emails are still coming in. More layoffs at Gale.
How is the NKY office looking? Any big cuts to sales or other departments?
Scope appears to be all organizations. The target cost reduction is aggressive and several roles have either been significantly reduced or outright eliminated.
What departments at Gale? Is it a lot?
This is going to be an utter shitshow.
Reorg at NGL led to some redundancy reductions.
Layoff at Gale. Any other divisions/teams?
Can confirm, layoffs have started going out.
Which organization(s)?
How do you know?
