Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

Juniper rescinded my offer

I'm sorry for posting here, but I just wanted to check if you've had any hiring freezes or anything like that in the last couple of weeks? Juniper rescinded my offer and I can't figure out why. I couldn't start before December, but I doubt that's the reason since they were okay with it. Thanks in advance.

I hope you haven't given notice to your previous employer yet. It is negligence on Juniper's management's part, as they failed to communicate this to the candidate. Do a "commit rollback" (little junos CYA cmd).

It was irresponsible of the hiring manager to play it through because there's long been a hiring freeze, significant reductions are expected, and sale is almost for sure. None of these are conducive to starting a new job, getting on with new colleagues whose friends are let go, or keeping the role described in the interview for the long term. In the meantime, you may have passed up other offers or stopped looking so there is opportunity cost. Everyone knows this, so, it was irresponsible of the hiring manager to play this through. I don't blame JNPR for this, but it is shabby personal behavior on the part of that manager. I'm curious as to what was discussed in the interview about the upcoming changes?

Hiring new people as shields.. Last ones in are the first ones out when the layoffs start. Consider yourself lucky..

You should reach out to the head of HR. Sharing your experience on LinkedIn will also get their attention and help others avoid the same experience. They did you a favor though.

Yes, there are hiring and internal transition freezes. I am stuck in one group trying to move to another and it probably won't happen until Q1 2025.
