Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Offshore IT rude as he-l

I was willing to deal with the company a bit longer before going full force into looking elsewhere but the rude MFers overseas who we are forced to speak with regarding IT issues is the last straw. Rude incompetent Indians is the last thing a company needs if they want Americans to pay for their already sh---y service.

@w8 The offshore employees are by and far, across the board, incompetent. The problem isn't "the Indians" though, it's "the Indians in India working at a contracting firm that deceives Optum and lies about their abilities" And you know this because the Indian employees we hire within the US are way better than them.

Professional/friendly is all well and good but take a look at their actual work ethic. The contractors don't care about what's best or how to do things better, they will agree with whatever their boss says and cultivate a kiss a-s culture. I don't care if they are nice I care if they actually do anything useful.

I work with many highly intelligent, professional & friendly people in India. Most of also work much harder than anyone in stateside middle management I’ve seen at this company (for much less).

But it’s not any one persons’ fault that the offshore teams are more appealing to a for-profit company. And it’s not the folks in India you should be mad at either; they’re trying to do exactly what you are in life. It just looks different/unfair to some people, possibly because of inherently flawed belief systems, ethnocentrism, racism etc that are spreading like wildfire in a (not so newly) angry, radicalized nation experiencing a simultaneous failure of its education system.

It’s true that folks still come here from all over the world in search of prosperity, freedom, & the whole lot, too. But the highly motivated ones capable of fundamental transformation in their fields? They broadly aren’t educated here. Ask yourself why that might be and you may have a share of a cent to rub against your second coin: a healthcare system that actually works.

Meantime the U.S. has sat like a duck in the water on the global production front, outside of we-pons manufacture, delivery & deployment.

Sadly, those things aren’t terribly useful to a global society, including our own country any longer. When did the U.S. actually invest in infrastructure? A society of people helping people?

Ah, now there’s the rub. The U.S. has tripped up the niche nouveau-riche markets it takes credit for again, which alone cannot uphold it for so many working class people. What will become of the aging boomers, Gen-Xers when only a few receive the benefits, and the rest are sent to the pasture? Hmm.

Back to that shard of a penny now… think of it maybe like the sickle so many are so deeply afraid of and yet … it’s there in other ways when you look. And it works well for the many in production, out in the pasture.

Anyway, maybe think a little harder about who you’re really mad at, and why. It’s not the folks in India, though. Not at all.

@OP your anger is misplaced. “If they want Americans to pay for their s___ service”??
How about if American Execs want/care about service, they stop with all the thoughtless RIFs and actually come up with a strategy beyond offshore and AI??

Don't take it personal, they're still upset about Pakistan shooting down 5 of their jets. It's natural.

Offshore IT doesn't have time to deal with your problem, they're busy moonlighting as a gift card code acquisitions expert.
