Thread regarding Ford layoffs

R2O Email Notification

Who was the id--t that decided to set up an automated email system threatening employees with disciplinary action based solely on average badge swipes per week? And not take the time to check in with LL5s and LL6s, or even tell us before this morning so we could be ready to say something to direct reports?
The email tells them to contact their People Leader, but even we were never directed on what to do or expect!

In addition to tracking badge swipes, they are also tracking laptop Login location as well as company cell phone location to make sure people are spending a minimum of 8 hours in a Ford building. So essentially they have turned Ford into a prison camp.

@w7 Yes, there were two emails. One was a generic email sent after the leadership cascades with a link to the updated policy. The other was a targeted email sent only to those whose badge data indicated less than 3 swipes per week on average, with their people leaders copied on the email. This email is encrypted and cannot be saved or forwarded.

@a5 So, were there two e-mails that were sent out? One stating the policy after the VP personal meetings and another for your badges? I received the policy update for return to work from 3 to 4 days. I am curious because I have had vacation days and medical lately, but I am still working. This stresses me out as a single mom, who is juggling kids out for summer and driving into Dearborn.

Get the word out.

You do not want to work for Ford Motor Company.

They should expect mass non-compliance, and everyone who is able should feel obligated to stop going in altogether.

The company is already dead on the inside.

Let's make people on the outside see it too.

Does this RTO impact Ford Credit? Most of us already work from home and office space sold.

@pd

This hits harder than most realize. I don't know if its because they are caught up in the BS, but this hits the mark. Everyone is so concerned about pleasing an executive wet dream or question that they push BS marketing studies as to why someone would want another Sh!t app on their vehicle. Sure...increase the number of apps that customers will never use in the numbers you think you have. More bloat, more sub-par quality.

@e6 The same level of attention is paid to specs and coding vehicle apps, ergo our illustrious quality.

@a5 it didn’t just go out to GSRs, LLs too

The id--ts that sent the threatening email didn't even bother to check if the person was on new parent days (which is now 8 weeks). How classy to come back from enjoying your new baby, and seeing that email.

@e1 Ford did not mandate a vaccine. They only managed to mandate vaccine reporting.

It says something when management judges performance not by how well work gets done but by badge swipes.

They’ve lost sight of what really matters.

But then, they mandated an experimental vaccine too without thinking.

LL5s and Ll6s got them too. Not sure above that.

As to why? JF is a sociopath.

The emails only sent to GSRs. That’s all GSRs within U.S. under hybrid code designation

They don’t even know how to account for vacation in their data, so the outcome should be interesting.

Was the email only sent to GSRs in Doug’s organization?

In case you missed it...from the email they aren't threatening disciplinary action just when Sept 1st comes along and you don't meet 4 badge swipes a week. The enforcement starts now. From now to Sept 1st you have to get 3 swipes per week or suffer the same consequences that begin in September.

Very nice company we have. Ford Land better get their rear end together because the facilities now aren't anywhere near what they need to be or were in pre 2020 to handle this.

@aj The percentage of people let go a month ago was so small, considering the scope of the project that was “shelved”. This is just the begining - layoff a small group that doesn’t get widespread media attention, then RTO, followed by performance review and another big round to top it off. As far as sc--wing people is concerned, our management is top class.

For sure planned as our management was asking questions about fully remote workers too. Just unprofessional. We can do better than this.

@ah Why scare people into leaving if you're going to do layoffs anyways? We just had a round of layoffs a month ago. If they wanted to get rid of people, why wouldn't they have just included more people in those layoffs? Did something change in the month since then that made them decide they didn't cut deep enough?

To scare s*** out of you to leave. Another tool on top of reworked mid year assessment.

That email ruined my morning and stressed me out. It was formatted in a way that it can’t be forwarded, copied, printed or screenshot…like its top secret document and very personally targeted. And of course it came out right after the RTO policy change.
Luckily my manager understands I was on vacation for a week, travelled to customs, and lost my badge for a day. This is so unnecessary. In fact, it’s very nasty! Shame on Ford!

Be glad you get an email imo. At GM the EGMs and Directors just talk about your attendance in closed door meetings behind your back with HR and then hit your performance rating, even if you had a written agreement to deviate from the normal on site requirements. That place has gone downhill the last couple years.

@a3 I'm not talking about the 4-day R2O policy announced yesterday. I'm talking about the automated messages that are going out to GSRs threatening them because their badge wasn't detected a certain number of days.
Whoever approved that seems to have forgotten that employees get to take vacation time or have to visit suppliers at non-Ford locations.

I'm pretty sure this was board of directors/CEO to everyone . The policy looks well prepared and reviewed by legal. I don't think anyone's leadership outside their ll1+ knew. And imo this was planned long ago
