Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

So which is it?

Was told MD turned up to RR to an empty sales floor, or as good as on a Monday. Is RTO his knee jerk reaction?

Or is this to make life very uncomfortable to encourage people to leave without severance pay?

Has anyone left since the RTO mandate? I’ve been remote for 8 years and no office in my state. I’ve overachieved and worked hard. Single income family and I am struggling to focus.

I can see the malaise with sales. Some of the numbers are so bad, it seems people can’t see getting to their number. You turn up the quota and it gets worse. Will the malaise disappear with new sales people. I definitely see the exuberance of young people compared to more experienced ones.

@vxx+1uLfEqzz It's true. What's left for JC and crew to strip out to make the bottom line more attractive?
Sell is the obvious answer I think....

As of September 24th, Dell is on the S&P 500. The P/E ratio is at 22. Dell needs to get it down at all costs.

I'd be embarrassed if MSD had to come in and see if I came to work. You sales people just worked part time from home for four years! How fat and lazy did you get that you can't come into the office when you're supposed to be there?! Holy cow, no wonder why they want to get rid of y'all. Talk about an inflated sense of self.

If you've been at Dell for several years, you survived the previous layoffs presumably because you ranked higher than your peers.

Now you've served your purpose, they're done with you and they don't want to give you any severance for that quality work, above and beyond effort, those unpaid hours, those sacrifices you made, the loyalty you gave.

What a great company to work for.

It’s both, he didn’t get a standing ovation when he waddled around the office AND Dell has been losing their a-s quarter over quarter in “Mahket Shae” and layoffs over the past two years have cost around a billion that could go to shareholders! So they want you to quit without giving you that. Sc-mbags. The entire C Suite.

how could it be much more than to drive attrition and preserve any tax incentives

I think it’s a little of both. I think they had intended to put force people back anyways, and MD’s visit just rushed it

That’s actually amazing and I kind of love it lol… I mean, what did they expect? Giving people literally a day’s notice that we all need to RTO.

And yeah, I fully believe this is their last resort attempt to cause attrition since the last stunt they pulled (the 3 day RTO thing) didn’t turn out the way they wanted.
