Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

We need change at the top!

This place is headed straight for disaster unless we get rid of the entire upper management and usher in some competent leaders. They're the main reason why we're in this mess. Seriously, how much do you have to mess up at the top before somebody holds you accountable?

@oeb+1uhFbKcH Anybody who prefers MD to JC needs to reassess - the fact that he keeps JC in situ and pays him handsomely means he’s as complicit, if not more - MD is considered by some to be a great guy because that’s what they want you to believe - pay some other guy to do the dirty work and keep MD’s image and brand intact. Furthermore, MD is more financially literate that the CFO and knows exactly what he’s doing when it comes to stripping down a company to make it appealing for future sale. He will squeeze every $ out of this place if it means an incredible return for him and his pals over at SilverLake.

I think if you polled the average everyday Dell employee, youd find that most dont like JC and think hes disrespectful, rude and comes across as a phony with next to no empathy for others. I think MD is getting ready to ride off into the sunset....havent seen him in quite a while.

Id say most employees like him far more than JC

They need to satisfy shareholders. I don't know how you think ordinary Dell folks can do anything. The direction comes from the top. That's it.

We need change at the bottom of the pyramid! Fire all slackers who do nothing and hang on this forum just to complain about whole day. If you guys were living in China you would have learned by now the true meaning of the word "work".

@vuq+1uhFbKcH oh contraire, we know companies offer strategies and visions, but those at the tope are incentivized for short-term results, which stared long-ago with the advent of stock-based compensation and the acceleration of layoffs to manage cost

It’s a mess. The stock is a short term story. There is nothing there. It’s corporate greed with financial engineering. It’s a con. We are a pump and dump company now. Meanwhile Dell is leading the industry in layoffs.

The stock is up over 100% for the last year. The board couldn't be happier. Corporations are not incentivized to think long term.

Unfortunately, it will take a long time before the cultural impact of low comp, Hunger Games management, constant layoffs, and reorg churn will be felt in business results. But it is their company - they can run it into the ground and treat people like animals if they want. Most of us will get better jobs in the mean time.

What mess? Have you seen Dells stock performance this year? $$$ will always trump moral and culture.
