Not only can they, they will hire contractors. Your union is doing absolutely nothing to protect you because they are powerless to bankruptcy. The judge will see the exorbitant cost of labor and the union labor will be gone. This is no joke, I purposefully stop paying my dues. I do not need union "protection" when I do my job, I have no issues with management since I know how to keep my head down and do the work I am here for. Good luck to everyone, please dont believe the hysteria and fake news the union will try to convince you of, its over for all of them.

Yes it’s up to the bankruptcy judge as to the possibility of allowing the company to renegotiate contracts and wages. Bankruptcy in and of itself doesn’t just void contracts in place. However, in a state with no contract right now like FL a judge doesn’t need to get involved as the company can just get rid of all its employees with a simple 90 day notice.
This will be a long process 6 months to a few yrs. It will all be based on the filing, what they are trying to accomplish, wages, reduction in the the workforce. It will be up to the bankruptcy judge to make those decisions.
Do some research for yourself. If the company can prove that contracts/wages are burden, they can reject contracts, and try to renegotiate at a lower rate, up to 25% reduction, from what I have seen. This will probably get ugly.
Remember all your union contracts have a clause in them that say “the needs of the business”
We will not be using contract employees. This reorganization will be good for Frontier in the long run. Frontier is a great place to work. I was once a craft employee and worked my way into management. No tricks, just hard work and dedication to Frontier. You can do the exact same thing if you stay positive and it starts with improving your ACS scores. You can do this!
