Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Patterns that I’ve noticed thus far

So far I’ve see A few patterns that seem to be consistent across all of the people who got laid off:

  1. Many of the company that were acquired in overlaps some of the optum business areas continue to get let go
  1. Individuals that have been in the company for over a decade that I’m assuming has tons of money in stock, options, bonuses, etc..
  1. Roles that could be easily automated or replaced with someone offshore.

@vsv+1o20X2sr it was planned when Sir W. himself was crowned king. He's been planning this ever since he took over the reigns.

Optum really awful as a company. They talk big at taking care of employees and providing great patient care. But at the end of the day it’s all fluff. Staff shortages made worse by layoffs and team consolidations. How are the employees expected to pick up the slack for everyone that have been let go. It was already really tuff to keep up with the demand. There’s not enough time in the week to get everything done. It’s really sad to see the state of a once great local company go downhill after Optum came into the picture. It’s ridiculous.

Granted you a real pulitzer prize. This hollow + low life management needs 2 be exposed. This is a big scam, unfortunately we are accomplices to this.

It's planned for months and came from leaders of each business units ( No middle managers). The reason it's quiet is no news or major reporting required as UHG slowly lets go of small batches of workforce in each state. We have 400K employees and no major rifts since covid. Now covid is done, payors and CMS is offering lower payout with expected higher quality. It su-ks but if you're one of the retained, consider a good week and celebrate that you are not the prey. If you don't know that UHG does this every six months before Covid, then you are too new or ignorant to reality that we are all disposable in the eyes of this company. All those tied to RRP or stock grants will sell you out just to stay employed (someone has to). Sadly, it's dog eat dog in this company (if you don't have profit cost center). Those with ops and capital $$ rule like kings. Unless you realize we are a profit company and all of us are disposable, you will continue to suffer. Just know the world is kinder and everything will be OK even if it happens. Just know what incompetent corporate greed feels like. Most of you will do better. Don't let your fear overtake you. BTW, We are not fixing healthcare, we're profiting to keep people tethered to healthcare ecosystem for the rest of your life. We are the problem to our national heath care crisis. There is too much greed and profiting in Healthcare. Good luck everyone and talk to you in the next rift.. good news is if u make it, you're good till next year.
