Jack gets the ultimate trial... reincarnation as a ge peon, hell, or a hundred equally deserved options depending on ones world view — so where is Jack?
Now Larry has a scapegoat
He was a raging a–hole, and the management culture he promoted at GE led to the downfall of an industrial giant (his hand picked successor being a clueless mo–n didnt help either). He should be rightly mocked as a long term destroyer of wealth, despite the short term results.
Ding dong! I failed spelling in High School and now I work in Quality Control for GE!!
Ding dong the Welch is ded
Jack Welch formalized layoffs as GE’s standard business model and fed the model steroids.
Yeah you're right, he should have just played it safe and that 100,000s of layoffs never would have happened because they never would have been hired in the first place. The stock never would have done super well during his time and we'd all be making nothing but kitchen appliances and outdated light bulbs. I'm sure our unions would have been successful negotiating our pay increases as well with all those successful years of profit never happening. He gambled big and won big. It's not his fault everyone before, during, and after weren't there at the table to win. He created an opportunity for those willing to put in the blood sweat and tears to win. Those who just wanted to punch a time clock, sit at a machine and demand a pay increase with no extra effort, well you're lucky you got what you did. He manned up and admitted he felt that he passed control off to the wrong person, after the fact. He never had to do that. I'm sure it bothered him to see what he spent years to create, fall apart due to the carelessness of others.
@vsq I do not think anyone is glad or joyous because he's not with us any more - I think people are just bitter because of 100,000s layoffs he orchestrated - also, many blame him that he planted the seeds of our current demise all while pretending to be a mastermind who figured it all out.
How many people has he laid off in his career? I wander if there is a question like that before as they screen you in the heavens.
He made it possible for the D-Rates to exist in the first place.
What do you think his legacy is then?
Knew this would bring out the haters. When you rejoice at another human’s death, you need to do some serious soul-searching.
The Grim Reaper comes for everyone, not just the lower 10%.
If it weren't for him, we never would have been able to get our fat paychecks!! We'd be getting paid like all of the other average factory workers working at just another average company.
There may be many who are feeling rather joyous with this news, but the reality is Jack got the last laugh on all of us. Can't try him for any wrong doing now, if he even did any and you can't sue his estate. The best any of us can do is just s— it up, pull up our big boy pants and move on with our life. Hate him all you want. In the end, the fact is that he wasn't stuck with the bill!! We are and that won't change!!
