Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

We are yet to discover how deep the rot goes

I know that at this point I’m stating the obvious, but it’s still astonishing. How come nobody checked Intel better before they were included in the chip govt scheme? I have been wondering about how the unraveling will affect the previously stated headcount reduction target. Now I’m wondering if any of us will have a job by the time it’s all unpacked and settled.

They cut 15%, see how the investments go, then another 15%. Pat will likely be around till all the cutting is finished, then he will go.

It’s an onion. As the layers get peeled back more layoffs will follow. Dont mistake it - this is just round 1 of layoffs. There will be several before it stabilizes and the company will be in shambles and a very hollow shell of what once was.

They have to cut the right way. Not by voluntary exits which potentially can make things even worse.

@vrl 75% is a bit rich, I would say 40% is more accurate, but you cut that much at once... would the org would survive the shock? 15-20% a couple times every 3-6 months should help get us their as well as allow the needed time to innovate and automate a very manual and kludgy system.

Labs... your lack of industry standardization is going to be a big issue, what you have is neither unique nor world class, you are behind.

"Intel is 75% over staffed."
Bingo.....They would staff your local McDonalds with 10K workers and call it perfect.

Intel compared to its competitors are bloated...

I have not checked NEO...is it still being filled on Mondays??

Very few people will survive and would you really want to be one of those? The company is going to get picked apart by private equity and others already in the industry. They want the IP and the factories. The Intel employees are gone in an instant.
