Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

Inhumanity

It was bad enough we didn't get to say goodbye to those they threw out of the firm as the firm asked us all to stay home to receive calls. We found out if you were laid off you were immediately banned from the building like you were a criminal. Nobody got to say goodbye. Then those of us left got to watch the firm come through with a huge trash can and clean out the file cabinets and lockers of those laid off. Why, why would you do this during the work day? The firm couldn't do this task after hours or the weekend? This firm has lost its humanity. Guess the lesson is everyday hug your friends at work. Tell them how much you appreciate them and do not keep anything at work. Prepare like every day is your last day.

@vk Penny has taken a huge dump on the entire firm. She is a vile woman.

Unfortunately in today’s world people can’t be trusted. Over the years I have seen several large reductions and people can’t go a bit crazy.

Weird things like someone taking a dump on the carpet on the executive floor, someone stopping up the toilets, etc.

Also, I have seen other wise good people get violent. The last thing leadership wants is to up someone in jail after laying them off. It is best to give distance and time to allow folks to get over initial reactions.

Sad but safety first for all is important. And yes, the above were in the same industry. .

@ka I do not know either. But, you speak more truth than Penny ever has.

Penny is failing as managing partner and she knows it. She keeps doubling and tripling down trying to save her sorry behind. It will not work. She already has dug herself too big of a hole in three short years. If we ever have a "Toast to Penny" at Jones it will be because we are toasting that she is no longer with the firm. I never thought someone could run the firm into ground as quickly as she has.

@OP , I'm a firm believer the firm didn't handle this appropriately or respectfully towards the associates who were ISP'd.

We all know someone who spent 15+ years at the firm; who knew what they were doing, did the job well and were let go.

The outsourcing is horrible, the morale is down and associates can't do their required job as their taking on more work from associates who were ISP'd.

I'm still looking to move on and not look back.

Not surprising. They think that people who got separated will walk away with some innovative secrets. News bulletin… Edj is years behind any innovative business practices. This isn’t cutting edge. Let PP and chubacca know that.
