Are we selling more cars and doing a better job, making the company more valuable, or just puffing up the stock price with buybacks?
Interesting that the fact that GM stock has gone up 95% in the last 5 years makes some employees upset.
Every single one of you DESERVES to lose your job. Get lost.
@2bc
GM stock has gone up 95% in the last 5 years. That's actually impressive.

Ford is down -5.4% in the same period. Horrible because the market is at "peak" right now.

Stellantis is down -14%. Most of us could have guessed this. Circling the drain?

GM is actually doing great in every measure. It has nothing to do with how they treat their employees but TBH, it's hard to take a black pill on GM despite what many might think here.
How much has GM's stock price increased in the last 10 years? How about the overall market in the same time period?
@29k
Out of almost 200k employees, not a single one would DARE call them out.
The game ends when the stock market corrects (when the AI bubble pops). Millions own stocks with leverage. They will need to beg, borrow, steal, and sell their toys to pay the banks banks once the big correction comes. Unsexy stocks like GM will be sold to pay for the leveraged, failed AI stocks. You will see bitcoin and gold get monkey hammered too but that will be a temporary blip. It's 2007 all over again.
Some have been warning about all of this for a few years now but we are at the endgame now. There's no amount of papering-over they can do when people are broke and can't find well-paying jobs. Grinding 3 "gig economy" jobs won't cut it for most people.
Usually they do a stock buyback before cashing in to boost the stock price and their profits.
General Motors Insiders Sold US$19m Of Shares Suggesting Hesitancy

SLT does not believe in General Motors.
You guys are never gonna buy a new car again anyways
EVs don't work anywhere without handouts, magical carbon credits and subsidies. This is an insane propaganda fueled site trying hard to win over the gullible that Chinese EV tech is the future. It is not because the physics will not allow it.
The people who hate America need to leave asap. You are free to go.
Now scoot!
Well America is the only developed country in the world who can't figure out single payer health care.
And we pay the most per capita and get worse health outcomes than everybody else.
So yeah ... We're special ☹️
How do they make EVs work in China and Europe?
Are Americans the only people in the world who can't figure it out?
Without a carbon credit scam Evs will NEVER be profitable.
GM refuses to break out profit/loss for EV financials. They do admit they are selling them at a loss.

How much is GM losing on each EV sold? Can’t wait to see MB surpass Tesla as promised. “She led the way” said sleepy Joe
There’s always cruise 2.0 I guess
Spoken like an 8 year old trying to use reverse psychology: "If you down vote me then you have cooties. So up vote me to stay cootie free"
The only real win when inconvenient logic and facts are presented is to down-vote.
5th grade debate club is even above this, but we are dealing with flunkies from GM.
"Performance culture" will weed you out and then you'll REALLY be salty.

Q: Do you read about cell phones burning?
A: Almost never.

Q: Do you read about EVs having "thermal events" while idle?

Q: Do you read about ICE vehicles having "thermal events" while idle?
A: Never once in my entire life.
Many of sad, tired arguments here are 5th grade debate club-level material.
@yz The size of the effect aside, do you see cell phones burning?
If churches aren't paying their fair share despite receiving the same services as everyone else, everyone else has to pick up their share of the cost.
@zr
Your argument, "churches are tax exempt" is a huge fail.
Tax exempt is not the same thing as a tax credit.
"Kids are tax deductible."
Right. I don't want to pay for that either.
I don't want to support cyclical welfare either. I don't care if that hurts your mom's feelings.
Churches are tax exempt. Why should anyone pay for his neighbor's religion?
Kids are tax deductible. Why should anyone pay for somebody else's kids?
Forcing people to pay for their neighbor's EV is not an "Electrification Policy".
Put another way, other than reducing government welfare for car purchases, what is the "Anti-Electrification Policy"?
@vj Sigh, there is a slight difference in the energy released by a cell phone and a 2800 lb battery pack that's gone into thermal run away. Just a slight difference.
The cell phone in your pocket has a lithium battery.
Lithium batteries are in everything.
Which is why we see whole cities burn down around us.
Hmmm 200 fire-related incidents on marine vessels were reported, with 64 vessels experiencing total losses due to fire in the past five years alone.
Not in my garage!
So IF they don't ignite a ship durning transport... do you want one in your garage?
https://commercial.allianz.com/news-and-insights/reports/lithium-ion-batteries.html
Since when have we ever done that? Unless of course, you mean the layoff game or the forced RTO game.
We are grandmasters there.
Chine Inc. want's you to buy Chinese EV's with a GM badge!
You're smarter than everyone in Europe and China, who don't see what you see.
How is trading a reliable and efficient means of transport for something that will cost an arm and a leg to charge, has a finite and expensive to replace battery life and the occasional burst of flames after the common fender bender any kind of a logical solution? Trading a battery pack for a gas tank doesn't make sense bro. Have you not considered the energy costs just to dig up the tons of ore just to make pounds of concentrate, (then dump 95% of the mined rock as a acidic sludge somewhere) and then maybe read the papers... utility costs are leaping up for kw hours EVERYWHERE. Oh and by the way turbine efficiency at your local power plant is a much more wasteful way to get electrons into your big heavy toxic battery pack... Propaganda ain't gonna work on selling this pipe dream no matter how bad you want it to.
Just because no one wants GM EVs doesn't mean no one wants EVs.
We need to step up our game.
