I've been reading about too many layoffs at Google lately. I always wanted to work there and I kept applying, so when I finally received an offer recently I thought I'd be overjoyed. I should be, but I can't help but feel nervous. Would I be a fool to accept a job offer from Google? Even with better pay? I'm an SE.

Speaking as someone who was laid off from Google, I would also say go for it. It was great working there - smart people and amazing benefits. But I would definitely go in with the mindset that it might not last forever and that you should enjoy and take advantage of it while it lasts. Also understand that Google is at the end of the day also just another company - the shine of its aura wears off when you're actually working there so don't let its glamour prevent you from considering other opportunities (if you have any).
Google can save money and have one room for both by calling it "Birthing people's room."
Pregnant males have their own rooms at Google where they can pump br---t milk.
Do they cut pregnant males some slack?
@vel+1skYq1K6 this is not true. In jan 20th, 2023, several people with less than 6 months were laid off including pregnant women with L1 visa.
You are very wrong.
If it's better pay, go for it. Companies don't layoff new employees anyway.
Google is a good company for people starting their careers or on mid level. As you get higher, more politics, back stabbing, and toxic it becomes. So if you are not a new grad or mid level, do not join.
It depends on you, actually. If you're a coaster and can cope with low probability layoff anxiety, you'll feel at home in today's Google. If you feel responsibility and own work and results to be delivered, the politics and backstabbing might get under your skin.
