Thread regarding Optum layoffs

No layoffs-TOLD YA!

So I was the one who posted a little over a week ago and said there were no layoffs slated for the 28th and I received something like a 97 arrows down. Now here we are – I said that I was leadership and I said they were not going to be layoffs today. Now stop listening to people who are just trying to scare you on this website! Live your life – take your PTO – and stop hanging on everything that people are lying about on here. All you’re doing is freaking yourselves out for no reason! I’ve said it before and I will say it again. There are no slated mass layoffs at either Optum or UHC through the rest of the year. Not that a few jobs here and there won’t be eliminated, but there’s nothing down the pipeline. So get off of here and enjoy your summer.

@pb reading comprehension is super important for those who cannot understand basic language. I specifically stated there were no mass layoffs and that was 100% the truth.

It is weird and gross that someone posts that there are no layoffs on the same day they knew there were layoffs at Optum. What do they hope to gain, except trying to push false news to people who are trying to make decisions about their future?

@em that is absolutely a lie. You can look up every person who works in HR.🤣 now if you are talking about the service line that connects you to HR – then that would make sense. The human resources is not in the Philippines.😏

@e2 Actually the first time you call they ARE in the Philippines (you can hear roosters in the background) they filter the call. When you get to 2nd level its in the states.

@dv Actually HR is in the Phillipines so no one named Karen there.

@db UHG employees 380,000 people. That does not include the affiliates that they own. Who’s the smart one now? And with one Google search, you will find that 85% of the employees at United health group and its affiliates are actually stateside. Again, stop with your nonsense. Actually HR should probably fire all of you because if you’re spending this much time trying to get people aro--ed up on this website – you probably shouldn’t be employed.😏

@OP I'm pretty sure this troll is from Optum HR. They are giving out false information to confuse employees. Yes there were layoffs, yes we knew ahead of time and had to provide names and take management training.

Anything we do to try to help provide valid info is disputed by this troll.

@c7 the one with a comprehension problem is u. UHG may have 400000 employees but most are overseas or spread out among there 1200 or more companies they own. Optum only has a reported 70000 with most being overseas. So their goal is to get rid of as many stateside as they can with AI replacing the rest. I guess your assignment was to get on this site and spew your cr-p and try to bring morale by gaslighting everyone and undermining the facts.

@c8 the statement quoted was to correct your claim of "600,000" employees. but i see you don't care about truth and think it's funny to rile people up that may be fearful for their jobs and income. the company did used to be closer to your 600k number - in 2023 there were 440k employees whittled down to 390k at the end of 2025. no ratio of offshore to onshore given. as to if there was a mass layoff on the 28th, it appears you would only consider it to be mass if it happened to you.

@c0 was there a “mass layoff” on May 28th?? 😏 Nope.

@c3 so you just validated-NO mass layoffs. 😏Quick question, UHG employs about 600.000 people. There is a big difference between two and three people getting laid off and then getting on this website and stating that there is going to be a “mass layoff on 28 May”. Are you having issues, comprehending the difference in that?

@c4 the only troll is you. Constantly coming on here to scare people is psychotic. It’s almost like you all feed off of each other’s misery. The posts underneath this thread alone are so disturbing and you are a contributor.

With a company of 600,000 people – there’s constantly going to be layoffs in various departments. But the post that this was a “mass layoff“ slated for May 28 was absolute bullsh-t. Everyone who posted on my thread who said “oh my boss got laid off today”, or “oh I had a coworker laid off today”, yes – every corporation is going to have layoffs intermittently throughout the year. My post was about “the mass layoff“ that was supposedly slated for yesterday. That did not happen. You all need to stop and get a life. This is getting ridiculous. And again, let me clarify – the company will constantly lay people off. Has departments change. But to say that a mass layoff was slated for the 28th was an absolute lie.

Had a colleague laid off, also slated for June 11th as their last day.

Just because nobody got laid off in whatever business segment you are in, doesn't mean nobody was laid off. We have layoffs almost every month. I know this because I work with a lot of teams and we're always seeing people get cut.

I gave the post thumbs up for one and only reason. Indeed, people please go live your life, take PTO, try to enjoy your summer, time with a family, hobby, or whatever makes you happy. Whether there were or weren’t, or there will or will not be mass, targeted, or whatever type of layoffs nothing you can change or affect. I’m wholeheartedly validating and empathizing with mostly everything that people share or go through, but what’s in the end?! Can you control anything?! Will your post or your worry, anxiety, insomnia, depression, frustration change anything?! So called leaders don’t know, don’t care nor want to be bothered by such nuance. Business as usual. Nothing personal. Hence, prioritize your mental health, wellbeing, family, and try to find inner peace through acceptance. It is not easy, but it’s the only way because constant emotional stress will inevitably result in physical illness. No job is worth your health. Look at your options. Do whatever is in your power to have some type of a backup plan. Unbearable? Start pursuing other opportunities.
