Thread regarding Paramount Global layoffs

Any updates for next month

Has there been any new information about the layoffs that are supposed to happen next month? I'm checking to see if anything has been confirmed yet.

@vg Sounds like there's a story here. Do tell.

Brian Stelter on X has the full 10 pages of Bari Weiss plan split on 3 different posts. In the big picture CBS News did need to start expanding on the Web over 15 . years ago. This is way too late. Sounds like she's condensing everything to ONE Newsroom too, if you read carefully. Expect Major layoffs in news throughout the year

  • and please don't look for W.A.R.N. notices for the news division - these layoffs are going to be swift in each wave.

Here's an update - Bari Weiss just told CBS News staff they are TOAST if they don't expand beyond broadcast. Yikes, head for the hills

@vc Updates are fine as long as they're meaningful and not total BS and lies.

@kw I want to volunteer too. This place is not good for anyone's mental health. I'll take my chances with the job market. Do we talk to our manager or reach out directly to HR to initiate the conversation? Between the constant threat of layoffs, RTO 5 days a week in office mandates, dysfunctionality in IT teams, dealing with big egos and unpleasant personalities, stubborn ppl designing P+ API software like it's the dark ages, yet have the nerve to act like they know it all, I'm ready to get off this God forsaken place, and have been for a while now. Zero morale, no motivation, creativity completely ki-led off. How the he-l do they plan on taking on Netflix with this mentality? Keep being delusional.

@v6 Yeah, who wants regular updates from an accessible CEO? They're supposed to be untouchable godhead figures who rarely leave their private office and who deign to interact with employees or treat them as valuable human capital!

This org is totally dysfunctional since Bakish started having these town meeting type BS.. no other media company in NYC has these regular brainwashing rituals. Sad we have to keep informed by the company when colleagues at other companies are free from the management control

@qj 295,000 viewers is horrible, CNN has a few shows with numbers like that and they're not even in the top 100 cable shows

Re: the Ellisons - everybody gung-ho about them haven't noticed that Oracle stock is down almost 50% is just the last few months because of DEBT. Get your rocks off on that.

@r2 so funny that he's in last place and losing viewers by the week.. also what's with the $ in the word $h-t ? There's no money there. Colbert loses $40 MILLION a year.. take your head out of the sand

Everybody looking at Bari Weiss when we should be looking at David Ellison - this is HIS way of running things that we are witnessing... To give you any idea of our fate ahead. Also if I were on the news side I'd be asking Weiss how the $150 million purchase of the Free Press will affect the budget or layoffs . That was an unexpected expense .

@pz don't forget Colbert is last place in Late Nite talk shows. 295,000 viewers - there's probably hundreds of kids under age 21 with senseless content on tik Tok that have more viewers

You can bet layoffs at CBS News. Lowest morning show viewers, lowest weekend morning news viewers, lowest evening news viewers.

@kn i can at least confirm that convergence will not be done by end of march like they hoped (even though it was never possible). the new impossible deadline is end of april. i'm sure that will change again in a couple weeks.

can we volunteer to be on the layoff list?

@ay That assumes post convergence MVP is complete end of March as originally planned, we all know that isn’t happening.

Without any information, given Phase 2 hasn’t been communicated yet, I’d think the next round to be in April ahead of earnings?

Would love to hear anyone with real information though.

Heard March originally, but wondering if Feb is happening since a Town Hall was out on our calendars for Feb 4.
