There are plans that are confirmed to do an org wide reduction for onshore employees only in the US. All departments are being forced to do cuts. The plan is to do a small RIF, but then also do restructuring of individual teams, shift their leaders, and do a headcount reduction that way. Offshore is not affected, considering they are being funded over 100% for their RRP. US Employees should be absolutely furious that offshore is taking over everyone’s job, even when it’s data on American Citizens. Now that a majority of my fellow leaders are offshore, they only hire offshore. I’m not joking we haven’t seen 1 onshore hire in a year and a half. Stand up for yourselves people, push back! This is the biggest push I have ever seen, and I’ve been here 16 years. Every single US employee always has the thought on the back of their mind if they will be offshored. It should be the complete opposite. Hopefully eyes get on this trend, it’s ridiculous an American Health Insurance company, managing US Citizens extremely sensitive information, is handled by Non US Citizens..

God I hope they get rid of that bull cr-p director in Quality who knows nothing of how to manage people or data and is doing that HRO stuff from the fly. It so hugely embarrassing trying to save face from Change Healthcare ridiculousness.
Yes, please be true. Can't wait to volunteer!
Isn’t this what already happened?
@ys+1jjx684hx: Oh please let that be true. I'm thinking early retirement anyway, and a voluntary layoff would be a windfall bonus.
The voluntary layoffs are coming and will be available to nearly all grade levels. Payout will be a bit more than severance and calculated similarly. Should hear in a few weeks not sure if after merits / RRP.
Will this RIF/reorg occur before merit increases are communicated this month?
@v4+1jjx684hx
when were you told you were laid off?
I can't confirm voluntary layoffs being offered, but timing seems consistent with some restructuring meetings that I know about.
I am on UHC side but heard Optum is offering voluntary layoff or early retirement for grades 30 up. And that it’s coming to UHC in 2 weeks. Can anyone here confirm any this?
I'm a supervisor, worked for the company 23 years. I was laid off and my last day is Friday the 7th. I'm not sure what I'm going to do.
Yes - most of any of all jobs that can be done offshore.
My department is fighting back. We have been actively seeking projects where offshore hands are prevented from touching it. We've identified several notified that offshore team that we were takimg it, and just went from there
I'm on the UHC side but I'm aware vp level employees that have meetings scheduled in mid-Feb to discuss restructuring of teams.
Only legislation can stop this kind of offshoring. Folks in India who has never set their foot in US are dictating how health care is being administered for US citizens. UHG has no market presence in India, yet it is those folks who choose the kind of health care US markets will have. On top of that the managers in India recruit only people who belongs to their own Caste/community/language. The passwords of critical production systems are shared with everyone in Hyderabad. If the breech in change health care exposed one in every other American, just wait, it is just the beginning. Talk or write or message your senators. Only legal legislation can control the policies of offshoring healthcare data.
The people they hire from India to be developers dont even know how to code and cant speak english, or even do basic technical writing. Sh--s gonna explode , if the Change incident wasnt warning enough
From the Top until Witty is gone. UHG ELT/SLT layers are tasked with cutting onshore by 50% and pushing to offshore by end of 2025. Just to reduce cost, India pay is 1/5 or lower compared to onshore. India for developers is 15K - 20K compared to 70K - 100K for the same position onshore. So yeah, strap in folks going to get bumpy.
What date will this RIF occur and which departments/business units?
@bq+1jjx684hx- Not to make this site about politics... but Kennedy is way better than what we have had the last four years. Respectfully, take the time to truly listen to their ideas... it will help us working folks with lower medical bills and Rx. I am willing to give them a chance!
"He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone".....
Some people do change. I am willing to give him a chance. We have all fallen short in many areas..... no one is perfect.
I havent seen an onshore hire in my division of optum tech in over 3 years
ID: @at+1jjx684hx/ DOGE has no say in what Private business does. They can over see federal agencies.
I would suggest you contact and write RFK Jr’s team at HHS , once he is confirmed. That team will handle medical waste and fraud within healthcare.

They need to cut middle managers, the ratio of Directors to non-management staff is ridiculously low. Some managers only have 4 reports and very flat orgs under them. But don’t act surprised that this company cares about profits over everything, unfortunately they lack good management dimensions so they settle for short term profits. This company is huge, they are not good guys but you can’t hurt them, they are a cash cow! Just leave and tell DOGE what they are doing!
Anyone know what division or divisions in Optum this will be?
