Thread regarding Commscope Inc. layoffs

HN

Does anyone know what's happening here? I hear rumors that some folk have gone as you would expect with synergies. When do we assume we are safe?

After 3 months, I'm not convinced by all this. Is anyone enthusiast?

It isn't uncommon for people to move around and pick up new job titles but then it not be communicated anywhere. You just see it in Corporate Directory one day.

Communication is poor inside CommScope which for a communications company is laughable.

That's true. I noticed that my organization has been updated. I am now reporting to a new director. However, I have not received an official notification, just the change in the system.

Re-org at VTV is happening now.

the constant stress of this place is starting to take its toll. No work for the foreseeable future, no comms from the department. Why are we here, what are we waiting for? Just decide one way or another

They are forever having a re-org. If CommScope are pushing their ways onto Vantiva with layoffs, god help them employees there. The saga continues.

Very likely Vantiva will do the dirty work of CommScope where they too are the ones forced into making cuts.

If there is no work, or direction, they're making cuts. If you're seeing it, those at the top definitely will be too.

It does feel like we are in a holding pattern. Slotted into an organisation that we know nothing about with very little ongoing work.

I thought most countries had regulation that layoffs could only happen after a time period from the last one. As we've just had layoffs surely there can't be more for a few months

A major reorganization is scheduled for April, immediately following the distribution of HN bonuses across all countries.

There will be cuts at an alarming rate. They don't tell you much and won't give you any warning. Bunch of headless chickens running around the place.

Sounds like layoffs will be ongoing for a while.

Has anyone seen any announcements in their departments about how things will be done and who will be picking up work from the departed? Or let me guess they'll make things up as they go along.

It's all doom and gloom there. You think they will pre-warn of further cuts? Don't think they even warned about cuts from before. You work until you're told, or you take control of the situation. Find new opportunity for yourself. Be proactive, not reactive.

Do we assume round one is done now? Is there going to be further round?

All my info is from water cooler chat. No warm words of welcome from our new department overlords which makes me suspicious

If they are offering you a way out, take it.

They're offering transferred CS HN employees the CS severance plan. There is no clue what severance plan VTA has, if any. No severance policy was able to be found on any of their global polcies pages, unlike CS's policy pages.

Do we even know if big V has a bonus scheme? If not we've taken a massive hit in income over the last few years

So true. Lack of policies is abysmal .
Communicating 'so called policies' "verbally" is even more horrid. All smoke and mirrors to hide the slow rot and mistreatment of employees.
Just offer a severance or if can't afford to pay one ,at least offer the option to be laid off so employees can make a plan, get whatever in country state benefits.better to have the life jacket offered before jumping off these now 2 sinking ships.
Show some level of respect to employees if noting else!!!

VTA appear to be having difficulties paying the pension of their newly acquired HN employees!
VTA employees are vying with HN folks which have put paid to any belief the merged teams are one big happy VTA family. If they don't want to keep HN employees, then just get on with the layoffs rather than dragging out the uncertainty about the future.

Your post is accurate and is what I heard. One of the guys I know said about first day Vantiva being a good one, though I think it's probably downhill from there for him as well.

It's a race to the bottom, wouldn't like to take bets on which one will go first.

CommScope or Vantiva writing a policy? Don't make me laugh. CommScope's policy on policies is to communicate it verbally, late as possible and never in writing. That's so that it can be changed with zero notice, to suit them.

Don't even get me started on length of email retention policy.

Further organizational changes are coming at VTV. They are simply waiting for the bonus period to end because initiating the reorganization now would complicate communication regarding bonuses and 2023 performance...bonuses that will be insignificant, by the way.

So sad to see people being treated this way. So what actual severance is been offered to Cs HN who were moved to vantiva?
Was this a ploy to avoid a certain level of severance ?

Certainly not safe. Former CS HN employees let go from VTA last week with 3.5 business days notice. VTA was all very welcoming at first, full of training, meetings, the fake "meet the team and let's get to know you"s. Then the crytpic call invite the day before. 2 sinking ships is so correct. Playing with peoples lives. CS severance plan offered, but VTA/Technicolor Severance Plan remains a mystery, to be able to compare. No such policy was able to be found ANYWHERE on VTA's HR or Global Policies sites. Good people with years of knowledge easily let go like putting out the trash.

I have to say I was impressed with the lead to day 1 and the first couple of weeks. They sounded like they had a plan, communicated it and would stick to it.

Since then comms have been poor and the folk left are wondering if and when they'll get the chop. If they don't turn this round in the next few weeks goodwill will be on a par with when we were part of CS.

Restructuring was slated to occur March 1st, now that date appeared to have been pushed out. Several rounds of synergies anticipated.
It is noticeable that the enthusiasm present during the lead up to Day 1 appeared to have waned, & the new guys appear to be having problems paying the pension of their newly acquired HN employees!! Not sure what is behind that debacle.

Most of my old co-workers who remained after the big wave of layoffs in HN circa 2021 all have the open to work on their LinkedIn, apparently they are shutting down the entire Suwanee facility and shifting the assets to Vantiva offices, which is 30 minutes from old Arris HQ.

Two weeks ago, a significant downsizing occurred, resulting in the departure of entire teams and individual contributors from both HN and Legacy Vantiva/Technicolor in what's been called the "first wave" of layoffs. This indicates the possibility of further waves in the near future. Additionally, the recently announced organizational restructuring appears to be provisional and incomplete, with more changes expected in the coming period.
