Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

the last paycheck just hit - before the admin leave ends. Its crazy how this went down. I am trying to d-mb down my resume and apply for retail jobs just to keep the lights now. any leads?

Chivalry has long been dead in corporate America. There is nothing that anyone will say which will make you feel better. Experience all these emotions & let them heal with time - and heal they will. It's a phase - it's the worst possible time in recent memory to be laid off. Being able to reach a hiring manager is rare, there is massive supply of AI talent and there are people much much more desperate than you. Indian/Asian international students and H1B visa folks. It'll get much worse before it gets any better. Never forget how they treated you - take it as a life's learning to be better than them. Compassionate, empathetic - for your own sake not to prove to anyone.

Grow up - It's a job. Your co-workers and bosses are just that. If they were your buddies, they would leave Walgreens and hire you into their new found opportunity to su-kle from the next fatted pig of a corporation.

what do you expect from morally bankrupt leaders? the only learning here is - never give your everything to a "job" - maybe to your own venture/business. Never to a company. Corporate America thrives on this serf mindset, expecting unwavering loyalty for a few dollars.

Not sure if the "immediate manager" post was meant as a joke as it has the tone deaf quality typical in Walgreens messaging.

F-OFF -> you're dense and it shows. Most leaders that I encountered in Walgreens have lived a very sheltered and entitled life. It shows as you talk to them, how unrelatable it tends to be. A low life like you wouldn't really grasp what's it feels like to have no paycheck when you have three kids at home, a mortgage payment. Most of y'all got things handed down to you. And its ok - your fate. Having no empathy and mocking laid off people shows where you come from, your sick ideals

The reason why you were cut, of course, starts with the falling reimbursement rates for filling prescriptions. We tried to negotiate with the PBMs but have always failed to get enough leverage. Even though that is the bulk of the reason, it certainly hasn't helped matters when we hired ineffective leaders, took on unnecessary projects, and spent money on misdirected adventures.

We are all very sorry to have had to have let you go. We are very sorry.

How are you doing? I wish there was more we could do for you. Perhaps you will let us know if something comes up we could do that would help you as you pursue your new chapter.

I experienced the same thing after I got laid off from my previous job. No one I worked closely with has bothered to check on me. These are the same people I put in countless hours of my own time even on the weekends to help them when they needed help. The only time that one guy tried to linkedin with me was when he got laid off a couple years after I did when he needed to find a job. Needless to say, I ignored his Linkined request.
