Thread regarding VMware layoffs

How is VMW different from other companies you have worked for?

One thing is for sure, and that is that I have never worked for a company where favoritism was a bigger problem than it is here. The saddest thing is that those who are favorites are among the worst employees who could hardly get a better job anywhere other than here. It is a big mistake that I came here and I hope to leave as soon as possible.

It's all smoke and mirrors. Please just chill, take off your shoes pull off your socks and use them for the new puppet show. If you require, please request HR send you the necessary magic markers to apply smiley faces to your socks. Otherwise the pre-meeting meeting will be a complete failure.

I like working at VMware but hate the annual cull. With the talented people we have I don’t understand why they are made redundant at all. Why can’t they be retrained?

@uom+1c4USOng You are a blind id--t

It's very juvenile to berate someone for their own experience.

valued in the world is going nowhere, especially after missing out on Cloud.

They missed out on cloud because the management is clueless and have embraced the bullsheeters and con artists.

Every company wants to reduce costs, but I've never seen it on a scale as at vmware.
The managers of BUs are looking to save money, but absolutely ignore low hanging fruit like productivity to reduce costs.

Also, I've never worked at a company that embraced showmen and witch doctors who peddle bu-----t as much as vmware.

It may depend on where you report to but I see nothing of what you are talking about. Where I came from you are promoted/demoted based on your sponsor, immaterial of your contributions. Toxicity, lack of respect, no surprise that this company which once was the most valued in the world is going nowhere, especially after missing out on Cloud.

I find VMware amazing. Excellent culture, lots of respect for people. There are problems, but they are minimum compared to what I see outside. But then, I report into excellent leadership...
