Accounting gimmicks at Broadcom regarding disastrous VMware transition

https://orcafin.substack.com/p/acquisition-games

If this doesn’t scare the daylights out of investors, not sure, what else will. There is a clear and marked deterioration happening in the VMWare business even after all the carried-over receivables.

Doubt it has been disastrous, it is going as planned. Look at Symantec and CA, they are both paying off. Anyone stuck with main frame is paying at least 3 times as much as from before BC acquisition and now business has become as usual. With VMW the 50% install base that BC is gilding to keep will be paying 3 times more than with VMW. The opex for BC will be half since they won't have to service the the small customers so the margins for BC will be worth it in a year or 2.

Blame the customer CIOs who continue to pay 150-200% price increases. Investors know that AVGO is good for a couple more years of extracting cash from Broadcom Software.

Don't count your chips while still at the table. The chips can go down to zero very soon. What you cash out is what you can keep.

bubble brahs will be roasted. The market is a zero sum game. The brahs are providing exit liquidity with ESPP and 401k to all the people who are selling their options.

Intel will go bankrupt in less than a year if they can't raise cash by selling their foundries and other assets.

Hockey is definitely too old and doesn't know how to run a complex software business. He retained a bunch of losers. The high caste leaders and a bunch of useless DEs. All the good people left. There are still a lot of customers who are struggling to free themselves from VMware. May be this circus can go on for a couple of more years max.
