Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

NetApp now the worst place to work

It's been a long fall from when we were rated Best Place to Work. Kurian has destroyed what's left of that. No innovation ..... Bad acquisitions ...... Management by fear ...... Firing anyone who spoke out in a culture where that was once consider a virtue ...... Hiring executives from other companies like Henri Richard and the new Microsoft drones who knew nothing and cared less about NetApp culture.

RIP NetApp

Its a great place to work for non-technical workers. Career growth shouldn't be expected, its all tenure based like UPS.

Customer support engineers are top of their game, but worked to the ground.

Corporate IT is a whirlwind of a shitshow. Only Service Now uses Agile, the rest are waterfall burnouts. Contractors are mute button workers, most with no work experience or paper tigers.

Company is in a firesale moving 14-20yo systems to the Cloud. Standard asset depreciation for the industry is 6-7ys. Offshoring labor increasing.

Smash and grab a new job elsewhere before your job moves to Cork or Bangalore. The country club is closing up shop. Company OpEx is atrocious and getting worse, mostly avoidable.

Netapp was very toxic when it comes to the managers. No joke, in GDL2 (Building 5) one of the project managers was interviewing a candidate, and after the meeting was done. He pulled out a damn magic 8-ball, shook it, and asked "Should we hire him?". Apparently, when I spoke to one of the other PMs during lunch, the candidate would have been perfect for the system administrator. However, because the 8-ball said "no" they didn't keep him.

Just an FYI, in June 2020 Henri still had 143,000 shares of NTAP. Roughly about $9mil at the time.

Good point the board members- hopefully they are looking at flattening leadership. Seems to be some momentum on that in the industry.

I'm done. The jobs market is strong. I'm getting out of here before the next round of layoffs.

Cesar decided to cut everyone else except evaluate whether he deserves to remain in this company and reflect on his own performance. NetApp has only been worse off since he joined from Microsoft and brought along useless people from his clan. Anyone knows that while the cut is happening, he is still enjoying having 2 EAs to support him while most other EAs are being cut? Is that a luxury or is that considered double standard? Is no one or anyone from board of directors looking at the way he is spending company’s dollars for himself and his performance? His salary can save double to triple digit number of commoners in NetApp.

I actually think Indians will ruin netapp and the whole USA tech industry. Their nepotism and pursuit of visibility than technology will make USA behind China in the current technology competition. With that being said, we do have many great Indian engineers.

@tpl+1kZd8a8D : When ex-Microsoft enter at management level, it's the sign that politics will lead the company, and they are surely more loyal to their tribe than their companies like technocrats.

How do you know Henri got a 25M USD leave package? If true, it's unreal.

He rode off with a 25 million dollar golden handshake. Kurian will get much more.

Imagine how many jobs could have been saved by those dollar figures.

NetApp has no shame
