Thread regarding Saudi Aramco layoffs

Worst Department Leadership?

I don’t know if it is the sweet water but there is something special some of these management types drink because I have never met such arrogant people in my career.
SVP of SMA including most of his department think they are gods gift to the earth. Ever notice the shady things they do?
But the award for biggest pr--k has to go to the SVP of the chairman’s office. This man would be absolutely destroyed with lawsuits outside of the country.
The goons who run loss prevention are absolutely dishonest and cover up significant errors and incidents.
Downstream president regularly has meltdowns and refuses to do things.
CFO is semi-decent but only because he is surrounded by more non expats than not.

Loss Prevention a failure. Change name to Prevent Losing Our Seats including especially inclusive all the expats there without exception. No one there can be even be a safety man in a real world, how they survive is impressive. No responsibility, no accountability but many big words once come to talk.

Check out ED&C Department, it is run by a total goon who should be fired, but ridiculously so, he has the support of the P&CEO, which is just mind boggling!

And the winner is… OCD.

It’s where they literally send those that fail elsewhere. Some say there are no signs of intelligent life.

On their own free will of choice, only the very best leave.

Not a lot gets done in IT beyond tribal warfare, workflows and in---t. Whole place is held together by world leading string and sticky notes.

IT is by far one of the most ridiculously unhelpful departments all the way to the top.

SMA is all smoke and conferences.

SVP of community service should be sent far away from people.

Upstream president doesn’t like to do anything.

The Public Affairs department is an actual waste of space. Go by their office where they have 30 screens just to look at social media accounts.

Only useful exec is downstream.

Chairman’s office also a bunch of elitists who should be sent to the commissary.

Industrial security is a joke.

Ditto IT. Very few expats remain. Will be fully Saudized soon.

At least SMA (formerly known as Corporate Planning) protects its Expats. Working for Controllers or Treasury is a miserable experience. You get literally no respect from the rest of the Company, you do all the sh^t work, and then your own management throws you under the bus. Almost all the department heads in those places have been bad. Expat turnover there is high too.

SMA do nothing beyond attending conferences and pathetic LinkedIn appearances. They claim to be experts in strategy yet can’t even manage access to the GEC without a 1-year waiting list. They attract politicians and other reptilian creatures who wouldn’t get in the door elsewhere.

Most of the SVPs in Finance are stupid and arrogant. That area has been absolutely stripped of competent people. It matters not at all, because Riyadh does not care if deals make financial sense or not. The CFO is just there to sell Aramco to investors and that even that doesn't seem to be going all that well. One of the worst areas in the company.
