Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

I finally left

I’m a very long service red badge here. After many many years of layoffs and continual cuts in leadership with just more and more workload added as they cut more, I’m finally out! Quitting was the best thing I could possibly do for myself and my family. The final straw was when I got Covid, the store and corporate offices treated me like sh-t after all my years of service. No care or concern for someone with a potentially deadly disease, their only concern was for the store and keeping me quiet, told me I was not allowed to tell ANYONE I was Covid positive as it would disrupt the store. Not even a tiny bit of empathy or concern for my well-being AT ALL. That’s when I decided I was done. I am beyond thankful I am gone. My main concern is for the care of the sales team, customers have been nasty after Covid and are getting worse. It’s abuse some days. My heart breaks for the team I left.

After 29 years of service 20 of which was full time lead support, they broke me. I was fully prepared to stay 5 more years to retire but could not bear anymore abuse from managers regarding scheduling and work load. They are pushing the limits of each and every employee but more so with support team. I was fortunate that I could take my 401k and cash pension and cash out early. None of my coworkers are fortunate enough to be able to do that. I am sad for them as every day is unbearable. I am 3 months out and don’t regret it one bit in spite of the financial sacrifice. I am just sad it ended for me this way. I loved my job for 28 years but post Covid did me in.

Same here..longtime red badge, +25. I'm going to spend the summer looking for a new job out of retail and then give my notice. I know of several other people in my same job at other stores who have left or are also planning to leave, and you should see all the open jobs for it already, too, it's a very telling story. This job isn't what it was made out to be when offered.

The only way to name some names is on Indeed. People like to read what's going on with employers how they treat there employees.

@tfp
If anyone is named the post will probably get deleted as it breaks the site rules I think.

So as a red badge do you have any advice on how to handle the abusive customers? It's becoming harder and harder to bite my tongue but I also don't want to lose my job
