@tdr+1uNtrgni as somebody involved in layoffs last year, can you tell us what some of the criteria for selection has been?
During last years 5k layoffs (me a person involved with the decision) knew basically a month before Karen announced this in the townhall. That wasn't something we expected. This round probably the past 2 months.
Please, I knew something was up during the summer...no new projects coming my way and leadership taking over some that were previously under my direction. Am I surprised no! However disgusted that most layoffs in my area of focus were folks age 40 and up! Good luck training Gen Z on an actual work ethic...
why do you care? What does it matter
Since July
Imagine if all this energy was actually spent helping customers and improving CVS.
I think mine was part of the discussions since June. Started asking questions, that as I look back, were indicative that the planning was taking place.
It appears that my leader and a colleague in the department have been planning to lay me off for some time. This became evident when I received an extremely negative 2024 Mid-Year Performance Evaluation with no performance rating. During our one-on-one meeting, my leader used scare tactics, suggesting that someone in human resources or the VP might read the negative evaluation and consider me for layoff to save costs for the department. This clearly indicates their premeditated intentions over the past few months.
Since the beginning of the year. First wave was stealth - “coaching out” the independent thinkers. This is the second round where they just went after $s. Third round will cut actual bloat. Fourth round will be more stealth.
Layoffs takes around 3-4 months to plan. CVS do them in "waves". There's a back/forward with the reduction team when managers/directors place people on the "list". The "list" needs to be justified by manager. Justification includes: roles no longer needed and comparing to other employees. The reduction team will provide guidance with the help of legal to ensure there's no bias. Once everything is approved (usually a few weeks), the date is set.
Probably VP and above. Most managers, directors and EDs in ops had no idea. Not even invited to the HR meetings
