Interesting thread. I believe the courts generally will not order disclosure of anonymous posters’ information unless there is a prima facia case of defamation made by the plaintiff. In that case, a plaintiff might be able to get the identity of the poster who has defamed them or committed libel. I think that’s still the case law in most jurisdictions. There are several sites with lawyerly articles on this on the internet. It’s an interesting topic especially in these days.

What if OP is in the media? Wouldn’t be the first time the media has accessed this site for information. Do you think a court is going to allow a company to go on a fishing expedition to find out if one of their employees has leaked info? Is leaking company secrets criminal? Come on man!

Is that what it’s called? So that has occurred here? No it has not. Point to one instance where that has happened and include your legal authority.

Companies can find out who any poster is if they want to. It is called filing a lawsuit and getting access to records.

@2jwa+1fosXpGL, how do you know this is confidential information? Are you confirming it’s accurate? Maybe OP is just blowing smoke. If so you fell for it.

You are trying to tell an anonymous poster that he can’t do what he did, after he (maybe) did it. We don’t know who you are OP, but you’re fired. Maybe he is not even an employee. Don’t you see the lack of logic in these useless warnings? Don’t you think most employees know what “confidential” means? Good thing you explained it. Do you expect OP to go to his boss and confess that he anonymously posted confidential info? “I’m sorry boss. I didn’t know that I was not supposed to disclose confidential information on the internet. I thought it was OK since I did it anonymously. Another anonymous poster told me I had to stop.” Ge-z, stop trying to be the hall monitor on this tiny site. It’s a waste of time.

@tbx+1fosXpGL, no offense intended, but what are you suggesting by your post? Who is your warning directed to?

That will be great and hopefully the federal govt gets out of the way soon. As it stands it is not looking good for future exploration.

Judge cancels US GoM Lease Sale 257 results! A Federal District Court Judge cancelled the sale of leases from last November's event, after environmental groups sued the Biden administration citing major concerns. The ruling stated the Department of the Interior did not adequately consider the leases' impact on climate change when issuing them.

That would be great but it would be against company policy for those with information to post on this site.
