Folks, I just got the word from my high contact. The information I have received is that there is going to be an email mid week. From what I have been told there is a plan to reduce sales staff by 50%. The reason for this is that AI can replace sales and there is a move to make the company look like an AI behemoth to force a quick sale to Google to boost Googles business model. I have received this information in good faith so please do not spread it.

No word is out only speculation by everyone here. This company and their layoffs are at a flip of a coin and when the wind blows. The only people who know are the ones at the top and the people who have just received their meeting or pink slip. They hire, they fire and sometimes a lot and sometimes a little. God speed to everyone. Get some fresh air and don't let a company consume your life. You are just a cog in the machine with them and they are just a paycheck for you.
Maybe the people in HR will fire other people in HR.

With this in mind I would not be suprised if large numbers are cut.
I my humble opinion of course.
Anyone is inside sales knows this can’t happen. Customer might be able to place orders online but then someone has to fix them on the backend when they go on hold or the order is canceled for some stupid, unexplained “system error”. You can not completely remove inside sellers, that would crumble the company. Without inside sellers, no one would even know how to use DSA

The lower levels are laid off due to business reasons. The Dir and Above are laid off due to not meeting performance. Everyone knows this in the industry.
I am waiting for AUG and rest of the year when all the "leaders" go out.

I have no insight other than what has been passed down by management but I work in EMEA and have been told no cuts are happening.
IMO I would say inside sales for now is safe but I would imagine the usual over inflated targets for Q3 and into Q4.
I do think AE's will be cut however with large cuts depending on region in Q4 for Inside and external sales.
They will want to tidy everything up before the start of the new financial year.
However they play it things are bad across most teams and the numbers just are not there.
Whatever happens remember Dell is just a job and life goes on.

Writing has been on the wall for inside sales for half a year. The massive push to 100% online we were basically making our jobs not needed anymore. We don’t even do returns anymore. I’m an inside rep and wouldn’t be shocked if this week is my last. I’m pretty sure AE’s know it’s coming because mine has been asking a lot of DSA questions.

I actually believe the first half of this post. They’re wanting sales folks to be in their territory, and I’m guessing they wipe out the inside sales people. They are wanting you to be onsite with customers in territory. Which, for us in sales that’s extremely difficult and we aren’t moving states. My guess (I have zero insight just a guess) is the inside sales will be depleted as we already are 100% online and customers place their own orders anyway now. AE’s will be extremely mad at the extra work as most don’t know how to build a quote. Specialist inside roles will probably be gone too. Again- this is just a guess. I wouldn’t be shocked if sales gets hit hard. But there’s 2 weeks left in the quarter. Warn us this week and last day of employment would be next Friday. Who knows.

There is no way google would squander their cash on commodity hardware. Google actually develops AI libraries. They don't need an order taking org. I could see Amazon seeking an acquisition as they are the most innovative of all supply chains and could make dell more profitable and cut 95% if the workforce
