Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

BTC salaries are 40% lower than market average

The salries at BtC are 40-50% lower than market, liar management keeps saying they do a benchmark but its just nit true.

There are few folks who are happy because they come from tier 3 colleges and conpanies. Some if them are also made team lead and supervisors because there is no option.

As a result promising young talent is leaving in hoards. The managers are truly patheitc bunch of URC RTD types.

Stay away, do not join BTC. Houston wants to keep you under our toes and never let you shine. The low salary is a message to confirm the same. You do the work and stay low and shut up already on asking for a market average pay.

And on top of that they insult BTC with raises of 2%. Inflation in the country is 7% at least year on year. And yet they spend millions on each expat, and not even a decent wage for workers? No doubt the company is sinking.

40% less is too much for the quality of work provided by BTC (way overvalued).

I say it should be 75% less (fair value).

That’s probably because the standard of your work is 40% lower than market average. I was left with a computer that only had Outlook and IE working (not even Skype), because someone on the BTC Helpdesk just stopped working on my computer (through Remote Assistant” when their shift ended. No warning, no handing me over to someone else. They just closed the Assistant and left me hanging.

@1wdl+1d2eoLJr It’s easy to throw the word racist around, but have you considered that over half (maybe all)of the people with whom you are working in Houston or Europe understand that your center and your job exists to replace their job at which they are using to provide for their family?? Is that too hard to see? And understand how that might affect someone’s attitude? I am not defending poor behavior at all but crying racism over someone’s bad attitude or disrespect is not always appropriate. How about you? Any chance your behavior is part of the problem??

Worst part at BTC is being treated badly and unfairly by Houston counterparts.

It seems like a lot of racist people exist in Middle management, especially the ones who are in business units or UOG.

Many people accepted the lower paid jobs at BTC because direct instead of contract. When PIP system made all direct hires seem like one year contracts, the value of being a direct hire went to zero and people started leaving as fast as possible.
PIP system destroying loyalty around the globe.

Thanks for that DW.

If you #hotshots in the BTC think you can make 40% over at another BTC, then by all means, go ahead - BK

If BTC’s are really 40% below market average, then finding a higher paying job should be relatively simple.

If ExxonMobil is below market rate - vote with your feet. The company believes engineering can purchased at a cost. Our history is going to the lowest cost. Do not expect the company to have a plan or to fully communicate the actual situation.

The KLTC engineers are also leaving for more pay all the time. Do not expect quick action by the company since they can not tell the difference between good and incompetent employees.

Let me give you career advice. Start jogging, and join MD on a run. Then you can become one of his untouchable pets that infest the company to the highest level.

There is no way it’s better than US employees. I spent two years in that mess. It proved you get what you pay for.

They are lower by 40% conpared to the Indian market dear bright one.

Of course it has to be lower than USA. 4 times lower twice as efficient, 8 time better than US employees.

But its not 4 times lower right now its worse, it doesnt compare to Indian market is the OPs point here.

“BTC salaries are 40% lower than market average”

This is literally the reason why US jobs are outsourced to India. Those of you making 40% below US market average are actually the better paid among your peers. Many Indians make 10% of what a US employee makes on an annual basis. Given the quality of the work output I’m not sure if it’s even worth that.

Management will always cite benchmark data or use the term total remuneration as an excuse for lower pay, this data is never shown. The sales pitch previously was that Xom offered stability and a long career thus the lower pay, now with the aggressive layoffs and annual PIP/NSI programs this is no longer the case for any of us.
