Thread regarding Accenture layoffs

4 Things that should have been done better

I wish ACN’s senior leadership did a better job at communicating internally on such issues and not just externally on news channels etc.

Here are things to consider going forward:

  1. Be honest and transparent to employees on which groups have been impacted so there is less anxiety. Human Capital is your biggest asset. If there are not enough smart people there will be no work thus no revenue.
  1. Current severance given in COVID-19 times is below the norm. Learn and adopt from companies like AirBnb. Be the leader and set examples rather than otherwise.
  1. TRULY help the employees that were let go to help them find jobs. They’ll be your advocate for the future which in turn will help with brand. This will also help in future hiring and retention. Right now, it’s going the other way around. Take action quickly.
  1. Current system (Algos if true+ human review) of laying off is simply flawed. Someone with lower rating last year.. you ask them to make improvement which they’re working towards, demonstrating it and before the fiscal year ends, you lay them off. Why ask them to make these improvements if there were intentions to let them go? Rather give them a few weeks to search for jobs. This will help with brand building and retention.

Julie and leadership only care about the value of their stock. Not the individuals. All the caring stuff about employees is complete BS. She says one thing to the analysts and does the opposite internally. Need to cut aggressively to try and maintain $ACN. Severence packages are sub-human.

Agree 100%, ACN is the biggest liar in the industry.

Agree with @svz. The goal was not on value, otherwise they could have offer pay-cut to MDs to keep good consultants who get things done with high quality. Also, they could have use COVID-19 getting rid of useless MDs and SMs who created toxic atmosphere by playing favorites not letting good consultants to progress but only their favorites to be in projects.

Yeah, Accenture talks a good game as long as that benefits Accenture. Then, we pivot, do the deed and go back to talking a good game. The same happened in 2009...

The emphasis was not on value. It was a financial maneuver to make the 3Q P&L look a little better so the C-suite can get their promised bonuses. Accenture talks a good game, but as evidenced by what happened with Hertz (and many other projects I have seen personally) they are BS peddlers in the same vein as Arthur Anderson selling Enron. The truth doesn't matter; it's what you can convince people to believe. I feel betrayed because they totally lied about everything.
