@1xk

Pursue all available remedies through external law enforcement and the criminal and civil legal system by filing a formal complaint against the Senior Manager for workplace harassment, abuse, and discrimination—potentially in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. If substantiated, leverage the legal process to compel the organization to take corrective action, including the dismissal of the individual responsible.

Look for another job immediately, and work at a better company.

@st

They get away with it because they know someone higher up and kiss the right a-s.
In all my years of working, I have never seen so much covert departmental sanctioned abuse where an abuser then shows a completely different face to a higher up and the higher up allows it and the abuser gets away with it.

This abusive Sr Manager and anyone related must be FIRED from the company. Their behavior does not fit to the company.

Some of us miss our teams and still hope for their well-being, even a year later.

@gg Agreed. They only promote the bullies and toxic leaders. They manage out the good people.

Those types of managers don't last long????
Agree at CVS they don't last long as managers, because they are promoted to Directors, Exec Directors, VPs etc. Bad behavior is the normal and encouraged at CVS.

@cs

Me too. 1:1s were gossip. Back biting, belittling , if they even happened. Told everything that was wrong with you only is exhausting.

Turns out other companies think you're wonderful.maybe it wasn't ypu after all. Multiple job offers the same day. Maybe it's them.

@d3 This Senior Manager has been with the company for over 23 years but has remained in the same role throughout. The stagnation may stem from limited educational advancement, questionable professional values, or a tendency to undermine others' success out of envy.

Subject: Escalation: Disrespectful and Abusive Behavior by Senior Manager

Dear VP Human Resources/Colleague Relations,

We are writing to formally raise a serious concern regarding the conduct of Senior Manager at Aetna+CVS Health Inc. In a recent meeting, this individual repeatedly shouted, “I want results… I want results,” in a tone that was aggressive, demeaning, and emotionally abusive.

We believe this behavior violates the standards of professionalism and respect that Aetna+CVS Health Inc. claims to uphold. No employee regardless of title should be allowed to yell at, scold, or humiliate colleagues. This is not a matter of high expectations; it is a matter of basic human decency.

If this behavior is part of a pattern, it may point to deeper emotional or behavioral issues that require intervention. We urge HR to take this matter seriously and ensure that our workplace remains a safe, respectful, and psychologically healthy environment for all of us.

Sincerely,

Concerned Colleagues

I recommend not to go to HR. Its' no point of going HR if they are all related. You will get into trouble for complaining and they will select the complainer in the next layoff round.

@ca You are so right. VP and Executive Director in same department married and working from home together. One reports to a leader that is peer of the spouse. I do not agree with that.

I worked at Aetna for a long time. I put up with an abusive culture. I can truthfully tell you its in the top worst companies. The horrible abusive cultural is not at other companies. Leaders are consistently late to 1:1s or cancel at the last minute. I had a leader that spent the 1:1 talking about themself. There could be a class action for hostile work environment. If any jury saw my email box and written communications I am sure they would be equally disgusted.

@c8 yeah right..everyone is related here or friends with someone here. It's less than 4 degrees in separation from a VP, her husband, his sister in law, the bosses brother, his buddy from church, the VPs best friend's husband.
Get the picture?

Grass is greener on the other side. CVS is full of employees who are allowed to not only yell, but degrade and belittle others.

You MUST report this I-D-I-O-T Sr Manager to the HR immediately. Those kinds of people do not fit to the company.

Not really. It's the way it is said. Ever have someone say they were there to kick your a-s?
Ever have your boss yell at you in front of another director as if they already told you something and you're hearing it for the first time?

Ever have a director mess up a project costng the company hundreds of thousands to fix it and take no accountability?

That's what wanting results means here.

Wish I could yell this at my own id--t director. He’s just a benchwarmer and will probably skate through the next round of layoffs again while making a mess of everything he touches.

This whole place is based on leaders that flip out and treat you like cr-p.

Many of the people that were laid off are ones who challenged their leader's style or lead teams not acting like an abusive leader.

My previous boss was great leader, mentor and was great at doing the same job his team did.
Now he's gone as he didn't fit the mold.

Yes. People witness the abuse and do nothing. Executive directors, lead directors know about it and even encourage it.
I had a colleague yell on a meeting in front of others for half an hour. He then set up a meeting with his boss to play victim.

@OP Horrible toxic culture. I can relate. They hire criminals in leadership roles as part of a second chance initiative. Those hired continue to be toxic.

Yes, unfortunately abusive behavior is legal unless it's related to a protected characteristic, disproportionately targets people based on protected characteristics, or escalates to as--ult.
