Another American gets fired, another Japanese expat gets increasing responsibility and power.

Meanwhile, Canon continues to get tax breaks from Suffolk County to employ Americans at the Melville location.

Suffolk County should do something to address the lack of protection for American jobs, whole giving tax incentives to Canon.

@sp definitely a few jealous ones out here downvoting this statement. I agree we have lost talent and a big supporter of contracts. This along with the secrecy surrounding it doesn’t bode well for the rest of us that remain.

“Merger” sounds better than it actually is. DR was a talented career woman, and the knowledge and expertise the organization is losing will prove to be devastating. Time will tell.

@bv Where are the others going? I would imagine we will hear about this mid week. I'm sure other announcements will be part of this.

Canon is really going out of its crush people's souls. If I were an employee there, I would just do what's minimal and if they can you, you'll get your unemployment. Push them back on your terms. If the want to burn people out, folks will simply shut down. What the company is doing is sick. And that CEO is, as others have said, isn't worthy of having human flesh.

Been catching wind of a merger in my own division, which I'll leave out for now. Technically redundant as it's split between 2 separate machine categories, but it will require a long learning curve and likely a cut in headcount. We're all fully expecting at least a small reduction when the two teams merge, which is insane because despite the split, we're already ridiculously understaffed and burnt out.
