Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Two weeks' notice

I'm thinking of putting in my two weeks but worried they’ll walk me out immediately. My new job wants me to start mid-July. Anyone who quit recently, did they let you finish out your notice period? Don’t want to leave cash on the table if I absolutely don't have to.

I resigned effective June 2nd. I gave them 3 weeks and was allowed to keep working.

If you give your two weeks notice and they tell you to go ahead and pack up you will not get paid for the two weeks. You are not working. You get paid for the time you are there working. Who ever is saying you will get paid, where are they getting this from?

My last job before I came to our magical world I knew the minute I gave notice they would tell me to sign out. So I gave them 4 weeks notice and lo and behold the call came to log out and they paid me for a month.

If you are concerned they will ask you to leave give them 4 weeks notice.

I put in my notice on Monday. I met with my “leader” on Tuesday to discuss the transition of my work, my direct reports and the plan for finalization of my projects over the next two weeks. I went to log in on Wednesday and she terminated my access. She called a meeting to tell the team I was gone. I learned this via text from the team. Since then, I have discovered she is calling around trying to find out where I am going and she is speaking bad about me. I have ethics and HR involved, as I am still an EE in good standing until 7/4. To answer, and per HR, your leader can let you go immediately but make sure YOU enter your resignation in the system so they can’t mess with your pay.
On another note, anyone know of a lawyer that would like to take on a retaliation/defamation case with Optum and my soon to be former leader and co-defendants?

@sp even if they walk you out, you will still get paid for the notice period.

Same boat. Just wanted to let you know they did let me finish out the 2 weeks. Also make sure you get the clear to start (if you haven't already) from the new spot before you put your 2 weeks or whatever in. Not a big deal if you just do it, but I had to work with an offshore third party background check service the new company was using recently, and they can be a nightmare to deal with. Luckily it came out fine, but I've heard horror stories from other people on the internet.

What happens to your purchased PTO? Do they return that money to you? Or does it vanish along with any other remaining PTO?

@OP you will still get paid for the two weeks regardless even if they won’t let you finish out two weeks . Consider it a paid vacation and a break between jobs if that happens .

Give 2 weeks and if they tell you to knave now they must pay you the 2 weeks. Burn any PTO before you give your notice. If you are going to work for a competitor tell them and they will turn you loose and you get 2 weeks pay.

If you have an offer, just present your notice and that you are leving this Friday. Optum doesn't have any loyalty to any of us. I get you want to keep it professional and formal, trust me is a one way road foe them.

Use your pto and then give them a day notice. 2 week notices are no longer a thing

If you are in a position of trust (access to medical records, credentials etc).. you'll have those removed immediately.

Make sure to use your floating holiday since it's not paid out when you leave the company.

I work with Landmark. I’ve had many coworkers give their notice and were able to continue working up to their last day.
