Thread regarding Northwestern Mutual layoffs

Town Hall Today

So we know:

  • CM had been traveling
  • CM met CEOs of Dell and AWS
  • CM has no clue about Anju
  • JP the Data guy speaks just to speak
  • ICS whiners grand standing by asking silly questions about costs when they are the actual waste
  • Tech/Zoom still does not work - echo when switching between NY and MKE but we have a 400 member DW team headed by a clown.
  • Wasted Lord knows how many $$$ flying hundreds of people yet we are being told 1% merit increase is more than enough

What did I miss?

  • CM

@Aryf+1vtcijZ1 - surprising to me too. KB was a huge problem but he not the only one. Others must go.

Looks like we got the other leader leaving, CM

Usually seen leaders here exit in pair. Why KB left alone?

Very low visibility, I meant the WI weather today ;-)
how do we anticipate the nm weather will be over the next three months? Should we expect it to be silent or WARN ?

Didn't get bad news during my town halls, but two teams in my division are being eliminated. Thankfully they did find them other roles in the company.

They will say it next year. No reason to announce before the year end data can be processed.

So, the Town Hall it turned out wasn't doom and gloom, but I keep wondering when we're going to hear this bad news the VPs and such are telling us about. My most recent all hands also had some "warning shots" in it saying to expect bad news over the next 60 days.

@sonv+1vtcijZ1 Heard AIP is 85-90%

I was warned in an all hands meeting today that tomorrow's Town Hall will have some not-so-good announcements, especially for factors affecting AIP. Be prepared for less of a payout next year.

Nobody. NM has by far the worst leadership I've seen in my entire career.

What leader does this group actually like anyway? Would like to hear what parts of the company are working well and are good to work in

It was sad to watch that panel. From the looks of them none wanted to be there. Reluctantly they came. More reluctantly they tried to feel like one team.

Speaking on behalf of many, how can we get an inspiring group of leaders. It starts at the top. Axe him.

ICS and AA and his clowns from merchandising store company need to go. They pushed that store to the brinks of bankruptcy and plan to do the same here.

McK should force CM to outsource infra or move it under DG and distribute the savings to improve development experience.

lipstick doesn't want to say what she's thinking. she wants to fire the lot of dg's org and replace them with offshore. cm brought mkinsey in to do the same. you can already bet the outcome of their engagement to make this the best tech org ever.

  • offshore more
  • get rid of layers without knowing what they do. people can self manage. let the patients run the asylum. that has always worked.
  • get rid of highly paid staff with many years of service. make up an excuse to do that and be sure it cant be proven to be ageism which it is
  • get rid of anybody else that mkinseys ai or spreadsheet tells them to

then when everything goes to he-l dg and the usaa gang will leave for TG to figure out and apologize to the board for the disaster left. CM will be gone way before that.

I spoke to an NM alum and mentioned standardization was the keyword again, the response was "Oh, they're trying that again for the millionth time. Guarantee it'll be gone with some time."

CM is likely still sour about not getting CEO and coasting until he can get a job somewhere else, with the help of McKinsey to pat his resume.

Destroy ESD moral and bring in my USAA buddies = Mission Accomplished, fly the banner proud.

DG was missing the USAA banner over his head with the cronies standing behind him. Fricken flys all his people around the USA, majority remote but I cannot get to a tech conference in Chicago, paid for it on my own. No travel budget regaining for 2024.

Can NM accelerate his LTIP to leave faster?

You forgot:

  • - lipstick has little to say
  • - AG’s answer to a question seemed to confuse even herself
  • - DG was dressed in his hilarious 1990s IT guy costume
  • - DG’s answer to everything is “standardization.” Likely, will retire before anything is standardized and its determined that’s not the solution.
  • - CM is ki-ling time in his current position
