Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

So many personal timelines forked because of poor decisions of intel execs

Imagine how many people’s lives have been changed drastically because of the failure of intel, which in turn was the result of the crazy CEO and his inept ELT. 20,000 people.

  1. Thousands who were about to retire got an unexpected payday a few years earlier.
  1. Thousands who had checked out years ago given Intel’s lax standards and were simply collecting paychecks also got an unexpected payday along with actual retirement
  1. Thousands in mid-career forced to make life changing decisions. Moves to different cities or states, different career paths, buying/selling houses to move.
  1. Thousands of early-career employees forced to make life altering decisions just as they were trying to get established.

Pat and ELT and the board should really do some self reflection here and be ashamed of themselves for changing the life trajectories of thousands of families. Meanwhile, the company will bear an extraordinary cost for these separations to the tune of $10-$15 billion, driving it even closer to bankruptcy.

But guess what, Pat and ELT continues to make hundreds of millions of dollars per year. Absolutely criminal negligence.

Many Intel super loyal employees are in for extreme route awakening in the next few days. Their lived are about to be upended and many did not see it coming. they’re gonna feel terrible and super disrespected. It su-ks but shame on them as well for putting so much trust and loyalty into the company and our managers.

Love to see how you got your 10-15 billion dollar figure. Let's say 20k employees get let go/volunteer. Average worker at Intel is let's say 12 years... At 1.5 weeks of pay/year plus let's say 6 weeks of stored vacation, that's 24 weeks, let's just give 2 more weeks for craps and giggles. So half a year's pay, average base, likely 140k. So 70k payout plus some stock. 80k. x 20k employees, 1.6 Billion in payout.

It's called life.

Nothing is guaranteed and so much is out of your control.
Just make sure you have the resources, whatever they may be, to weather the storm if it comes.

There is a banner over the entrance of NM RR5 showing Pat mugging with the Intel NM populace on his visit in August 2023. Whatever the banner means NOW it serves as a reminder that in August 2023 Pat’s visit was very special he was a hero to EVERYONE and EVERYONE LOVED HIM AND TRUSTED HIM TO TURN THE COMPANY AROUND.

August 2023.

@smt: glad to hear I won the argument. Just as you can run on hate for a real long time without getting bit by karma so just because BK and BS brought Intel to the edge of the cliff the company could keep toxicing along for a real long time without someone to help us take a great step forward

@rpc no I don’t believe a word out of that lying weasel’s mouth any more but I think you’re missing the point when the handwriting on the wall has to be interpreted. It could be that I’m paranoid and everything is fine. My point about “Pat said” is that our leadership has been working VERY hard to promote the idea that everything is fine and it’s only recently that it’s been dramatically obvious that they’re doing a cover up. I would call it the “family member in another state” test. If a family member in another state would try to talk you out of quitting without another job lined up it’s not THAT obvious yet. I hope you got out long ago and are just haunting the board out of spite.

True, the market overall has gone up. But, not necessarily for those in the tech industry and for those with good salaries. It's been in the news. Sure, you should always look out for yourself but Intel has long said it looks out for its employees and as Pat said, as family. Nonsense. When ELT got a haircut of 10%, that's nothing compared with 5% for someone earning 10 - 15x less. The layoffs hurt individuals and families beyond their salary: stress of looking for work, parents trying to save money for kids college, an unexpected health issue, taking care of elderly parents and the list goes on. The writing was on the wall but remember some people don't know to look out for these things or were being told differently while in their jobs.

Is cheating and lying treated as criminal? Intel is full of criminals, three levels down from CEO. These are weeds invaded Intel land from four years ago.

@smf... seriously, you can't see for yourself the problems that have been piling up for years. Who cares what PG says. Figure it out for yourself. Do you believe him now? At some point in your life you need to start taking care of yourself and stop being spoon feed.

@gar: WTF are you smoking you filthy revisionist?! Pat was assuring us the plan was on track IN JULY. There could be many reasons to leave Intel in 2023 or 1H 2024 but the ship sinking wasn’t one of them.

Same story with Boeing and other companies across the US. Grossly overpaid execs destroying companies to juice the stock price to fill their pockets.

@nhv+1uQvds6h if children of employees resort to criminal activities it's not the fault of Intel, that's really reaching. I took ERP; I wasn't mentally ready for this but felt I needed to take it. Am I going to go sell d0p3 or anything else to end up in pr!$0n, no..absolutely not.

@nhv... It is really sad that you think the whole world revolves around a job at Intel. There is a whole world outside the doors of Intel. This should just be a hiccup in most peoples lives. It may be hard for a while but it will pass. People do just fine in the real world and they have never worked for Intel.

There was a comment on another post about how it will also impact the children of employees who are let go. How they were on a path to becoming doctors but that path is gone and some will become dr-g addicts and ho----s. That post got me. They aren’t wrong. It’s really sad.

Thanks Pat! Let that be your legacy!

It is sad that this is happening to so many people. Having said that, this was a train wreck happening in slow motion actually years in the making. The vast majority of people who are having sudden change thrust upon them should have seen this coming yet they didn't do anything about it. The job market was much better a year ago what were you doing then? Part of the negligence falls on your own decisions.
