Thread regarding Sears layoffs

HE Today

The HE campus is in serious trouble due to back taxes that haven't been paid to the village of Hoffman Estates and to the state of Illinois. Also, unpaid utility bills have been piling up as well. Water, electricity, phone, and heat, although HE is TRYING to save some money because they seriously cut back on the heat. It's really cold in that empty cavernous place. No one is left at HE to take care of these issues. It should all come to a final close by the end of February, when the utilities are finally shut off. (No phone, no lights, no motorcars, not a single luxury. Like Robinson Caruso, it's as primitive as can be). It's been fun!!

I also heard from several associates at HE that CTC is definitely closing. The last time I saw one of the conference rooms actually being used was months ago. Even the kid playing video games at the 'front desk' is gone.

It may have been costing more for the bank to maintain the ATM for how little it was being used after so many reductions of people.

It cost Sears nothing to keep an ATM. In fact they'll often pay you. They're probably afraid Eddie will steal it.

It is nice to hear that HE is finally suffering like the stores have for years. We are freezing in the winter and sweating our butts off in the summer. Since the heat and air are controlled remotely we had to come up with our own solutions. We just found where the thermostat was and covered it with tape so the warm air won’t get to it so it thinks it’s a lot colder than it is and the heat runs all day

I have noticed that right after lunch, the temperature in the atrium feels a lot cooler than earlier in the day. One time I felt like I should wear a light jacket … it felt like it was in the 60's rather than the comfortable low 70's. So I do think there is some merit to the postings about trying to save money on utilities. Also some washrooms are being permanently closed in parts of the campus presumably to save on water usage. It odes make sense because there is not much foot traffic in the atrium... the salon- closed... C3- closed (museum)…. ATM- removed... Kmart mini store- closed....Sbarro/Panda x - closed.... Bank- closed. The ATM's were a rip-off anyways charging sky high service fees.

Bills definitely not being paid! No heat at our store and the phone bill not paid and now we can only receive calls but not make them

The reason sears is failing so miserably is that Prairie Stone business park aka Hoffman or HE is that it was built on a ancient Algonquin Indian burial ground. Since sears moved from the tower of had been all down hill. Don't believe me Google "Algonquin tribe course sears"

@skk+13AgJjx5 Donkey animal, there is no evidence that they are turning off Heat, and if they did so in Illinois WInter, their pipes would freeze. This post is more sensationalist nonsense meant to get clicks. The utilities are not unpaid and the company is not going to be totally closed in February. Get a grip. WIll they eventually close? Yes, in the controlled, slow way they have been doing and probably around 2021 but not right away. Exaggerations are never a good way to be taken seriously.

Dodo bird, you don't have to pay the bills to find out if they're defaulting on taxes or not, that is public information from counties. Also, if you're turning off heat, pretty good indicator you're not paying that bill!

Nobody pays bills at any location fast Eddie works out barters for utilities in exchange for a percentage cut with a high up in utility company. That's why he's never going to any location cause he's too busy working all the time, duhhhh

They got huge tax breaks to keep the headquarters at HE, Eddie would sell off the property before falling delinquent on it, it’s not like he has to answer to shareholders to do so.

Heat was blowing, offices were being cleaned, restrooms serviced, deli selling coffee and snacks, can't understand why they are behind on bills.
