Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Next week will be mayhem

Folks…I hope everyone is settling into the weekend! Today I had a one to one with my very high contact. She let slip some details about next week. To keep a long story short, next week is going to be absolute mayhem in terms of layoffs. She said the plan is to get head count below 80K.

To put it bluntly engineering is about to get ga-------d by the higher ups. She mentioned a few departments that will be hit. India is top of the list as the ultimate goal is to pull out of there. She said a department called CloudIQ will be massacred.

These are starting updates
Please look out for your friends and family in these trying times

Quit giving this guy attention. Half the cr-p his “very high contact” says is false - where’s that email that was coming a couple weeks ago?

If Dell just wants to play in low margin commodity products, then laying off makes sense. But if Dell wants to talk seriously about AI, Dell needs to ask itself - what is Dell’s right to play? What IP does Dell have or want to have, and go invest to be unique or at least a value-add.

its time to turn a page . We absolutely need the VP, Sr.Dir PG to be replaced when they have not met revenue goals. So I am glad Dell is infusing new leaders in AI

Your very high contact forgot that CloudIQ is now rebranded APEX AI Infrastructure Observability. Your contact must be in marketing, since one would need to be very high indeed to come up with a brand name like that.

It's interesting you mention CloudIQ since it is probably the only engineering group that has been mentioned in posts lately. I see you picked up on that and used it in your bogus post. You're brilliant.

Does anyone have any idea if Telco teams in Canada will be impacted again during Sept layoffs? They were hit pretty badly during the Aug ones.

Either way - we cannot wait around to find out - get out of dodge - get off the X - we must find someplace else.

LOL. Indian skillset is completely different than Taiwanese skills. Both cannot replace each other. Your "high" contact is just a joke

There has been a huge increase in open roles in Taiwan if you check the Internal Job portal. It's now the second most after the US. A year ago, that was India...

Smoke too much on Friday? pull out from India makes no sense, everything else could be true, pull out from India will not happen..... unless if AGI could start writing code.

Dell has already withdrawn from countries such as the Philippines and Panama. Given the company’s track record, it’s clear that anything is possible.

Decisions are concentrated in the hands of a select few at the top, whose primary concern seems to be justifying their own positions by eliminating others. When business conditions slow down, Dell does not hesitate to take decisive action if it means cutting back on excess jobs created within their core geograhic regions. The company’s approach involves pruning roles aggressively for financial reasons when necessary no matter the location of the geographic space. It appears that Dell has been expanding its workforce in India more significantly than in Western countries. Given the economic uncertainty, it is therefore reasonable to expect that the company may need to reduce these positions to align with the shifting dynamics. We are striving to gain a clearer understanding of the situation to better grasp our company's objectives. However, it appears that their goal may be to offload as many employees as possible.

I'm sorry but this just doesn't make sense. Dell is not going to stop exploiting the lower cost labor markets and Bangalore is at the top of that list.
