I suspect there will be mass retail store closures/indirect takeovers over the next two years. If you listen to the Q4 earnings call 10 min 20 seconds in when Dan is speaking he word for word says “we expect to realize 1 billion in run rate operating cost synergies by 2028-double our initial estimate. These savings will be derived from network integration, THIRD PARTY CONTRACT EFFICIENCIES, and go to market savings across marketing and advertising.” If you work at small retail store that is not considered an “A” store and you are within a 10-15 mile radius of another corp store you should be working on your backup plan now and trying to transfer to the A store in your area.

@sg you are correct. Another reason simply taking severance isn’t the best fit is if you were only employed 3 years Verizon will only pay 2 weeks per year of your cobra premiums….that for me has been the been the most nerve wracking part of getting riffed on the 19th…unless you’re in a situation where your spouse can add you on their insurance. I’d much rather have a job still over severance.
2 or 3 years of severance is 4-6 weeks or 6 to 9 weeks.... if you do the math 6 months is 26 weeks. Best case 9 weeks pay doesn't cover 6 months of bills. Why the heck would I wait to go back if I could move to a store and not have to be 17 weeks poor? Who's the one with stupid advise... typical lazy blue haired person.
That's stupid advice. Stay where you are. Get the severance. Find a new job or apply back in 6 months.
