Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

Poll about Canon layoffs

I keep hearing conflicting info on severance packages. Who received a severance package and who did not?

I did not receive severance.

here is the thing on severance. First you have to sign a draconian agreement to never (for the rest of your life) say anything negative about Canon. You cannot tell the truth about what they are doing, you cannot tell customers who are being lied to that this is occurring (eve large ones like Amazon), you cannot say anything about Canon leadership or the actions they taking (even if you know, like I do). You sing an agreement saying you will quietly go away. In return, Canon will pay you two weeks of pay for every year you were with the company. Oh, and by the way you are not allowed to disclose what I am disclosing here either. If you agree to give away your freedom of speech, they will pay you for that. If not, you get zero.

I was told I was going to receive one but have not yet. Has anyone received it?

Sounds like the HR department is trolling The Layoff…. so with that said, respectively, enjoy the read and be sure to bring back the comments to company management.

If you don't like the company or its values you have the option to leave and find something. However, speaking negatively about a company that is paying you a salary shows your professionalism. You don't know the reasoning behind the decision to layoff people. Companies today are doing this more often because of the quick changes in the market and economy.

Before you make any statements educate yourself! If Canon is not your fit you have the option to leave.

Don't worry, they'll just throw us a pizza party were we only get 2 small slices each and hope we forget about the incident. That should be enough to get our trust back right?

Sorry about your loss. I’ve only been with CSA for two years and this whole week has changed my entire perception of the company. A complete eye opener. There’s no way they can regain my respect, just absolutely disgusted.
