Thread regarding Hess Corp. layoffs

GOM

Talked to an employee at Hess. Chevron only kept two people from the entire GoM offshore team. Looks like they opted to keep DEI hires as well. I know several folks laid off at different times with Chevron and if you are a white male you stand little chance.

Don't pretend like this isn't true. During our big layoff at my major, the usual suspects were whining about "white males" and the female President said "they didn't get any advantage, far from it. It was the opposite.", admitting they were hit the hardest.

@sg,
You not only sound like a loser but a gaslighting bigot who insists on seeing everything through the lens of race. Fortunately your world view has been exposed and rejected - even declared to be illegal. Keep living in the past you simple minded fool.

@sc,
You sound quite ignorant. I have a job and thankfully didnt need DEI to help me get it.

@pr all I know is that you obviously didn’t get hired because you cost too much and are too irrational and bigoted. You keep saying “DEI is like the 1920’s” which makes zero effing sense. I can imagine all the d-mb cr*p you do and say at work and I bet your coworkers can’t wait to no longer work with you.

Stop being a whiny little bigot and start looking for a job.

Based on what I saw in Guyana definitely looks like lots of DEI moves to save certain people… (last minute moves in June)..May the best survive

"People were selected based on cost, not merit, not background. It was cold math, nothing else."

If thats the case then why even push DEI? Hire the best candidate regardless of identity and stop talking about it. Its 2025 not 1925.

Ah yes, the classic excuse: “I didn’t make the cut, so it must be DEI.” I’m a Hess employee, and I can assure you, our race had nothing to do with it. Neither did our performance. People were selected based on cost, not merit, not background. It was cold math, nothing else.

"It is very entitled to say that a white male is at a disadvantaged position."

You are delusional if you think being a black or female doesn't give you preference in hiring. Sounds like you think you are living in the 1920s.

"It is very entitled to say that a white male is at a disadvantaged position."

It's quite simple minded to make any judgement about someone's life advantages based on race or s-x. Is a white male crack baby abandoned at birth more advantaged than a black female baby born to two loving and affluent parents?

It would seem if only 2 people were kept, then almost no one stands a chance… but sure, make this about being a white man.
